The following sections describe how to add a component, edit component properties, or delete a component from the Presentation Server:

Before you begin

To perform this procedure, you must have Deployment Administrator-level access, or higher.

To add an Infrastructure Management Server

  1. In the TrueSight Operations Management console, go to Administration > Components, select the action menu next to Components, and select Add Component.

  2. For the component type, select Infrastructure Management Server.

  3. Enter a valid Host Name or IP Address.

    Note

If the "Invalid Host Name or IP Address" message appears, re-enter a valid name or address. The name or address cannot start or end with a dash ( - ), contain any spaces, or exceed 63 characters.

  4. Select an HTTP or HTTPS protocol.
  5. Accept the default port number (443), or enter a new value.

  6. Select any of the listed tenants.
The list includes each tenant defined in the BMC Atrium Single Sign-On system.

  7. Enter a value between 1 to 10 minutes for the Initialization Timeout (min) period.
This is the time period that the Presentation Server tries to initialize a connection to the component. If the connection is not completed within the time period, the connection to the component will fail.

  8. Click Save.

To connect an App Visibility Portal to the Presentation Server and an Infrastructure Management cell

For each App Visibility Portal configured in the Presentation Server, you can select an Infrastructure Management Server that has been added to the Presentation Server, or configure customized cell details so the Presentation Server can receive the Application Visibility portal events from remote cells.

  1. In the TrueSight Operations Management console, go to Administration > Components, select the action menu next to Components, and select Add Component.

  2. For the component type, select App Visibility Portal.

  3. Enter a valid Host Name or IP Address.

    Note

If the "Invalid Host Name or IP Address" message appears, re-enter a valid name or address. The name or address cannot start or end with a dash ( - ), contain any spaces, or exceed 63 characters.

  4. Accept the Port number (default value 8100), or enter a new value.

  5. Select any of the listed tenants.
The list includes each tenant defined in the BMC Atrium Single Sign-On system, and there can be only one AV Portal per each tenant or BmcRealm.

  6. From the Infrastructure Management Server list, choose one of the following options:
select an Infrastructure Management Server from the list, Customize Cell Details, or No Event Channel Selected.

    • Select an Infrastructure Management Server.

    • Select Customize Cell Details, and enter the Cell Host, Cell Port (default value 1828), and Encryption Key.
    • Select No Event Channel Selected.

After an Infrastructure Management Server is added as a component, it is included in the events channel list.
The settings for the Customize Cell Details are the administration cell of an Infrastructure Management Server that is connected to the Presentation Server, or a remote cell that is itself connected to the administration cell of an Infrastructure Management Server connected to the Presentation Server. Only customized cells connected to an Infrastructure Management Server v10.x are supported.

7. Click Save.

To add an IT Data Analytics Server

  1. In the TrueSight Operations Management console, go to Administration > Components, select the action menu next to Components, and select Add Component.

  2. For the component type, select IT Data Analytics Server.

  5. Accept the Port default value (9443), or enter a new value.

  6. Select any of the listed tenants.
The list includes each tenant defined in the BMC Atrium Single Sign-On system.

  7. Click Save.

To edit a component's values

  1. In the TrueSight Operations Management console, go to Administration > Components. From the Component list, select the action menu  next to the component's name and select Edit.
  2. Complete the changes in the component's settings and click Save.

Note

After a component is added to the list, the Host Name/IP Address and Tenant cannot be changed. To configure these fields, delete the component from the list and re-enter it with the revised settings.

To delete a component

Warning

When you delete a component, the configuration information for dashlets related to that component is lost. You need to reconfigure the dashlets after re-adding the component.

  1. In the TrueSight Operations Management console, go to Administration > Components. From the Component list, select the action menu  next to the component's name and select Delete.
  2. To begin the deletion process, click OK.

The component's status is changed to Deleting. The process to delete the component can take several minutes, and is removed from the list after the deletion process is completed.

When you delete a component, you are also deleting the relevant devices and groups that are used in a monitored application. You must also delete the application or delete empty nodes from the application.

If you delete a tenant from the BMC Atrium Single Sign-On Open link , you must also delete any component configured to use that tenant.

If you delete an App Visibility portal, App Visibility retains all of its configurations and data, and continues to collect data. The Execution Plans for synthetic transactions continue to run as scheduled.

  • To stop Execution Plans from running, stop the App Visibility portal service. The TEA Agents will gradually stop all Execution Plans associated with the portal.
  • If you reconnect the portal to the same Presentation Server, you will see all of your data as before.

Note

Do not connect the App Visibility portal to another Presentation Server or associate the portal with a different tenant. Automatically generated applications are carried over, compromising data isolation, and manually created applications can show unexpected results or errors.
