Identifying end-of-sale and end-of-life hardware

You can generate a Device Inventory Report (or filter the Device list) for all devices that contain an end-of-sale (EOS) or end-of-life (EOL) hardware entity (for example, by PID).

To identify end-of-sale and end-of-life hardware

  1. Select Reports > Device Inventory Report
  2. NEW IN 8.9.03 Optionally, enter an annotation (to identify this report when it appears in a list among other reports) and enable an email notification to be sent when the report generation is complete and the report is ready for viewing.
  3. Set the Network Span to Entire Network.
  4. Select Filter Devices, and set the Device Type to Cisco IOS Switch/Router, Cisco Nexus, or Cisco XR Router.
  5. Select the Inventory tab, and set the PID to the announced hardware item. You can use wildcards.
  6. Set the Device Inventory to display Hardware Inventory: Entities +.

  7. Click Next to begin the report generation and NEW IN 8.9.03 to display its progress on the Report Activity page.
  8. Click Refresh until the report is completed, or wait until you receive the notification email. If the report is aborted, the Progress column indicates so, to alert you that the report data is partial. You can view the partial report, but be aware it is partial. You should refine your selections (if you asked for too-large a report) or re-generate the report (if it was aborted due to a system shutdown) in order to obtain a complete report. Then delete the aborted report as soon as possible. For more information about the Report Activity page, see Viewing report activity.
  9. Click the Device Inventory link in the Report column to display the report.
The Device Inventory Report is displayed.

To determine service true-ups

In addition, you can calculate service true-ups for products that Cisco has reached EOS during your current service period. Generate a Device Inventory report filtered by Entire Network and the PID. Calculate the difference between the contract Contract End Date and the EOS date for your service credits.
