    This topic contains information about enhancements in version 3.0.0 of the PATROL for Oracle WebLogic product and provides instructions for downloading the installation files.

    Enhancements

    PATROL for Oracle WebLogic 3.0.00 has been enhanced with the following features:

    In PATROL for Oracle WebLogic 3.0.00, when the Administrator Server goes down, only one event is generated every 5 minutes.

    		The PATROL Agent can connect to the WebLogic Server by itself when the WebLogic Server is down after restarting the PATROL Agent.
    QM001702822PATROL for Oracle WebLogic 3.0.00 supports a one-way SSL connection to the Administrator Server with a two-way SSL connection to the Managed Servers.

    A new parameter WaitSecondsHighCount has been added in the BEAWLS_JDBC application.

    This parameter displays the time (in seconds) that an application waited for a connection (the longest connection reserve wait time).

    This value is updated when a completed getConnection request takes longer time to return a connection than any previous request.

    A new parameter WaitingForConnectionFailureTotal has been added in the BEAWLS_JDBC application.

    This parameter displays cumulative, running count of requests for a connection from the data source, that have to wait for getting a connection and eventually failed to get a connection.

    • HeapSize: Amount of allocated Java heap space, in bytes, for this managed server.

    Downloading the installation utility and the product files

    This section provides information for downloading PATROL for Oracle WebLogic 3.0.00 from the BMC Electronic Product Distribution (EPD) website.

    Note

    If you have previously downloaded other BMC products, you might have an older version of the installation utility on your hard drive. BMC recommends that you use the latest version of Installation Utility. To download the latest version of the installation utility for this service pack, perform the following steps.

    This section provides the information that you need to download and install the patch from the BMC Electronic Product Distribution (EPD) website. To download the patch and installation utility from the EPD website, perform the following steps:

    1. Create a directory for the downloaded files.

      Note

      On Windows computers, ensure that the directory is only one level into the directory structure. The EPD package creates a directory in the temporary directory when you extract the files, and the directory that contains the installation image should not be in a directory deeper than two levels into the directory structure.

    2. Go to http://www.bmc.com/available/epd.html.
    3. At the logon prompt, enter your user ID and password, and click Submit.
    4. On the Export Compliance and Access Terms page, provide the required information, agree to the terms of the agreements, and click Continue.
    5. If you are accessing this site for the first time, create an EPD profile to specify the languages and platforms that you want to see, per the EPD site help; otherwise, skip to step 6.
    6. Verify that the correct profile is displayed for your download purpose.
    7. You can download the installation utility and the product patch using either of the following methods:
    Using Component View
    1. In the Filter Products field, type BMC PATROL Installation Utility.
    2. Click Go.

    3. In the right pane, click BMC PATROL Installation Utility.

      Note

      You can use BMC PATROL Installation Utility 9.5.00 or later.

    4. In the Version list, select 9.5.00, and click Go.

    5. In the Products tab, based on the operating system, select the check box next to the files.

      • Download Manager enables you to download multiple files consecutively and to resume an interrupted download.
        This method requires a one-time installation of the Akamai NetSession client program on the target computer and is usually the faster and more reliable way to transfer files. A checksum operation is used to verify file integrity automatically.
    7. Click Back to Product List.
    8. In the Filter Products field, type PATROL for Oracle WebLogic.
    9. Click Go.
    10. In the right pane, click PATROL for Oracle WebLogic.
    11. In the Version list, select 3.0.00, and click Go.

    12. In the Product tab, based on the operating system, select the check box next to the files.

    13. To download the selected files, click Download (FTP) or Download Manager.

    14. Complete the installation procedure described in the Installing section.
    Using Licensed Products View
    1. Click Go To Licensed Products View.
    2. Locate BMC Performance Manager for Web Application Servers and expand its entries to show the available version numbers.
    3. Expand BMC Performance Manager for Web Application Servers 4.0.00 to show the available components.

    4. Expand BMC PATROL Installation Utility 9.5.00 to show the available files.

      Note

       You can use BMC PATROL Installation Utility 9.5.00 or later.

    5. Select the check box next to the files, based on the appropriate platforms.

    9. Expand the PATROL for Oracle WebLogic 3.0.00 component to show the available files.

    10. Select the check box next to the patches, based on the appropriate platform.
