This topic includes the prerequisites and system requirements for the BMC PATROL for Openstack product.

 

Prerequisites

The following prerequisites are requirements that must be in place before beginning the installation.

  • OpenStack daemon must be configured for remote API connections.
  • If the OpenStack daemon is configured in protected mode (tls,tlsverify), the client certificate must be in .pfx format. If your client certificate is in .pem format, use the following command to convert it to .pfx format:

    openssl pkcs12 -inkey client_key.pem -in client_cert.pem -export -out client_cert.pfx

System requirements

The following minimum system requirements and supported resources for the Openstack KM. Before installing BMC PATROL for OpenStack, verify that the target computer meets the installation requirements listed in the following table.

  • Microsoft Windows Server 2008, x86-64, R2
  • Microsoft Windows Server 2012, x86-64, R2
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.x, 7.x, x86-64
Minimum hardware requirements

2 virtual CPU (vCPU), 4 GB RAM

Java Runtime Environment (JRE)

1.7 or later

By default, BMC PATROL for OpenStack uses Java Runtime Environment (JRE) that is installed with the PATROL Agent. However, you can configure BMC PATROL for OpenStack to use your own JRE.

See JRE Configuration dialog box to specify a different Java home directory.

Disk space

PATROL Agent components: 138 MB

Ports

If you are installing an agent or console with PATROL for OpenStack, you must specify the port number to connect to all the agent computers.

The default port number is 3181 for agents.

Web browser

This product uses PATROL Installation Utility 9.6.00, which requires a browser. For a list of supported browsers, see BMC Installation Utility 9.6.00.
