During onboarding, you or your designated onboarding partner may require interim database backups and restores. This is common when migrating data from on premises systems to the BMC cloud. It is your responsibility to track database versions and file names, and also to delete the files when they are no longer needed. Backup and restore functions are available from development/tailoring or staging environments only.

To request a backup or restore, submit a request from your support portal. If using the support portal, use the Request Something Else option for database backups and use the Request a Change option for a database restore, clone or refresh request.  


As part of normal day-to-day operations, BMC proactively backs up VMs and databases. This backup function does not require a request from the customer. See Data backup and retention for more information.
