Activation activities for your BMC Helix Custom Applications-based services include provisioning of the solution in all environments, configuring basic data to enable you to use your service, and providing you with a login ID and password to each environment.

This topic describes the activation activities that take place for the following services:

  • BMC Helix Custom Applications
  • BMC Helix Premium Connector
  • BMC Helix Cognitive Automation
  • BMC Helix Chatbot
  • BMC Helix Business Workflows
  • BMC Helix Multi-Cloud Service Management

As activation activities are completed, BMC sends you an email message with credentials and general information about accessing and using your service. The URLs for your BMC Helix Custom Applications-based services follows these formats:

IBM Workspace information:

You will also be provided with the IBM Workspace account accessible from http://console.bluemix.net. You will receive an email from the IBM Cloud email address no-reply.bluemix.net. You will need to register your user details in the invitation form.

A default workspace in the form of bmccloudacct-<customerprefix> is created for each environment. You are given manager access for these workspaces.

Configuring connectors:

To configure connectors though the BMC Helix Multi-Cloud Service Management service, see Configuring connectors.

You will define <customerprefix> when registering your service in the BMC SaaS registration portal. This prefix must be unique and may not contain special characters.

Reminder:

Custom URL naming conventions are not allowed.

Activation activities include the following for each service purchased:

  1. Provision the following environments:
    • Tailoring — This environment is used for implementing and testing system changes and provides visibility to new releases. The development environment is fully accessible by customers and their authorized representatives. You will be provided with an administrator ID to this environment.
    • Quality Assurance (QA) — The QA environment serves as a staging environment for implementing and testing system changes as a part of the change promotion process. This environment is directly managed by the BMC SaaS Operations team to ensure a stable, monitored, and change-controlled environment.
    • Production — Your production environment is for customer-authorized users and provides access to the live, operational system. This environment is directly managed by the BMC SaaS Operations team and is monitored and proactively managed with BMC tools to ensure BMC meets or exceeds its service level agreement. 
  2. Configure basic customer-specific content:
    • Setup of one tenant for your company
    • Setup of one user, to facilitate administrative access to the system. Authentication for this user is configured using native AR System authentication. To request BMC Helix Single Sign-on assistance for your applications, submit a request through your BMC support portal.
  3. Enable email for outbound notification via the Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) server
  4. Integrate inbound email by configuring one mailbox to accept inbound email messages through the BMC Helix inbound email framework
  5. Configure BMC monitoring data:
    • Setup of one company (BMCOpsMonitoring), user (bmcopsmonitor), support group (Service Desk > BMCOpsMonitoring) and site (BMCOpsMonitoringSite) to support BMC monitoring activities

Reminder:

Customer administrators should not modify or remove these data elements as they are needed for BMC monitoring activities. Customers are not billed for this user. For additional information, see In-application workflow.

  1. Martha Mulvaney, I am not aware that we are offering customers the ability to purchase additional environments beyond Tailoring, QA and Dev.  Highly recommend we remove the table above that references this.
