This section describes how to uninstall Gateway Server in silent mode. Silent uninstallations are launched through the command line and use a response file, which details the parameters required to uninstall the product. You can create a single response file and use it for multiple installations.

Possible scenarios for which you would use a response file are:

  • You want to uninstall in the background instead of interactively.
  • You are uninstalling on a remote computer that cannot display a graphical user interface.

Sample response files with default settings are included in the Gateway Server install image. Modify the sample files instead of creating new ones. The sample files also include instructions on how to run the uninstall silently.

To uninstall the Gateway Server in silent mode

  1. Create a folder in which to save the response file.
  2. In the product image directory, navigate to the subdirectory, silent.
  3. Copy the file, ConsoleSilentUninstallOptions.txt, to the folder you created.
  4. Open a command prompt and change the working directory to the directory containing the Gateway Server uninstall utility, by default:
    • (Microsoft Windows) C:\Program Files\BMC Software\Patrol3\UninstallBMCBPA
    • (UNIX and Linux) /opt/bmc/UninstallBMCBPA
  5. Enter one of the following commands, depending on your platform:
    • (Windows)
      start /WAIT uninstall.exe -i silent -DOPTIONS_FILE="<driveName>:\<fileLocationPath>\ConsoleSilentUninstallOptions.txt"
    • (UNIX and Linux)
      uninstall -i silent -DOPTIONS_FILE="<fileLocationPath>/ConsoleSilentUninstallOptions.txt"

The variables <driveName> and <fileLocationPath> represent the location where you saved the response file, if different from the location of setup.exe. If the path contains spaces, enclose the path and response file name in quotation marks, as shown above.
