This section outlines the prerequisites, configuration requirements, procedures, and sequence for performing a successful installation of Gateway Server and Agent on your system.

  1. Review the following requirements:

  3. Prepare the host OS as listed in:

  5. Decide how you want to install the Gateway Server Console:

    Before you install the Console on a Linux (non-Ubuntu) system, apply the following workaround to prevent a BGSSD service was unavailable error:

    1. Locate the /etc/lsb-release file. (The file is typically present for CentOS Linux 6.3 and above)
    2. Install the Gateway Server.
    3. Run b1config1000.sh as a root user.

    The Gateway Server collects data from the Agents, and must be installed to successfully use Gateway Server. A single instance of the console collects data from various agents.

  6. Decide how you want to install the Agent:

    Before you install the Agent on a Linux (non-Ubuntu) system, apply the following workaround to prevent a BGSSD service was unavailable error:

    1. Locate the /etc/lsb-release file. (The file is typically present for CentOS Linux 6.3 and above)
    2. Install the Gateway Server.
    3. Run b1config1000.sh as a root user.
  7. Perform the post-installation configuration tasks listed in Collecting data using Agents.
