This topic explains how to integrate BMC TrueSight Capacity Optimization with BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management (CLM) 4.0 and 4.1.

Integrating with BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management 4.0/4.1/4.5 for the first time

To integrate BMC TrueSight Capacity Optimization with BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management 4.0, 4.1, and 4.5, perform the following task:

  1. In the BMC TrueSight Capacity Optimization console, click Administration > System > Maintenance, and select the Additional Packages tab.
  2. In the components table under the Additional Packages tab, click  against the Integration with BMC - Cloud Lifecycle Management component to begin installing the integration.
  3. The Install: Integration with BMC - Cloud Lifecycle Management page is displayed. Complete the following steps to configure the BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management integration.
    1. Step 1 of 3 – Overview: Click Next.
    2. Step 2 of 3 – Configuration: Set the following properties and click Next.

      Property

      Description

      CLM Version

      Select 4.0, 4.1, or 4.5. (If you are upgrading from an older integration version, skip to the Upgrade scenario.)

      Platform Manager

      Host name

      Enter the host name for the Platform Manager.

      To verify the host name, open the BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management – Administration Console. Go to Workspaces > Configuration. On the General tab, note the host name shown in the Cloud Service URL field.

      Port

      Enter the port number for the Platform Manager.

      To verify the port number, open the BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management – Administration Console. Go to Workspaces > Configuration. On the General tab, note the port number shown in the Cloud Service URL field.

      Transport Type

      Select the transport protocol to use with Platform Manager.

      Need authentication

      If No is (pre)selected, you must change the selection to Yes. This allows you to specify the following Platform Manager authentication parameters:

      • Username: Enter the username of the authorized Platform Manager user.
      • Password: Enter the password for this username.
      • Login type: Select any one –
        • Regular: (Default) Provide regular Platform Manager privileges to the user authenticated above.
        • Impersonate: Impersonate Platform Manager privileges from another user for the user authenticated above.
        • Super user: Provide Administrator Platform Manager privileges to the user authenticated above.

      Chargeback options

      Select the appropriate option for Chargeback. (See the Chargeback task for details.)

      Cloud Services Tree

      This selection is based on what you choose in Chargeback Options, as described in the preceding property.

      Enterprise CMDB

      Host name

      Enter the Enterprise CMDB host name to use with Chargeback for BMC TrueSight Capacity Optimization.

      Port

      Enter the port number to connect to the Enterprise CMDB. Enter 0 if a port mapper is used.

      To verify the port number, open the BMC Server Automation Console, and go to Configuration > Atrium Integration > Configuration. The CMDB Port field displays the port number or 0 (if a port mapper is used).

      User name

      Enter the Enterprise CMDB user name.

      To verify the user name, open the BMC Server Automation Console. Go to Configuration > Atrium Integration > Configuration.

      Password

      (Optional) Enter the password.

    3. Step 3 of 3 – Hosts selection: Select the hosts on which you want to run the configured BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management integration.
  4. To finish integrating BMC TrueSight Capacity Optimization with BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management, click Proceed.
  5. At this point:
  6. The Additional Packages tab under Maintenance displays an operation in progress banner until the integration process executes.
  7. When the integration completes, the value in the Status column in the components table changes from RUNNING to INSTALLED, and the row highlight turns from blue to green.

Upgrading an existing integration

If you are upgrading your existing BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management integration to version 4.0, perform the following task:

  1. In the BMC TrueSight Capacity Optimization console, click Administration > System > Maintenance.
  2. In the Maintenance page under the Additional Packages tab, click against the Integration with BMC - Cloud Lifecycle Management component and do the following:
    1. Step 1 of 3: Overview: Click Next.
    2. Step 2 of 3: Configuration: Under CLM version, select 4.0 or 4.1.
    3. Step 3 of 3: Hosts selection: Click Proceed.
  3. After you click Proceed in the preceding step, all Cloud extractors are automatically upgraded to 4.0. No additional action is required.

Verifying the integration

To verify the integration with BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management, perform the following task:

  1. In the console, navigate to the Additional Packages tab under Administration > System > Maintenance.
  2. Locate the Integration with BMC - Cloud Lifecycle Management component under the Item column. The status of the integration is indicated by the color of the row in the table for this component:
    • Green: The task has ended correctly; in this case, BMC TrueSight Capacity Optimization is now correctly integrated with BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management.
    • Blue: The task is still running; in this case, wait for it to complete.
    • Yellow or red: The task execution failed due to an error. You can find out more about the errors by examining the deployment log that can be downloaded by clicking the  icon.
