This procedure describes how to deploy the Cloud Capacity Visibility view in BMC TrueSight Capacity Optimization. For more information, refer to the following sections:

Before you begin

Installing the Cloud Capacity Visibility view

To install the Cloud Capacity Visibility view, perform the following task:

  1. Access the Console and navigate to Administration > SYSTEM > Maintenance.
  2. Under the Additional Components tab, install the Integration with BMC - Cloud Lifecycle Management component as described in Integrating with BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management.
After you install the component, BMC TrueSight Capacity Optimization does the following:
    • Installs and auto-configures the Cloud Capacity Visibility view for use.
    • Installs and configures the Cloud Capacity ER Materializer task that refreshes previously installed views (with a default refresh schedule of every 30 minutes).

Under the Views tab, you can now access the Cloud Capacity Visibility view and use it to view and manage your cloud capacity. For more information, see Cloud Capacity Visibility.

To ensure successful integration of BMC TrueSight Capacity Optimization with BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management, you must verify that that the Cloud Capacity Visibility view works correctly.

To successfully view VMware data in the Cloud Capacity Visibility view, you need to deploy the vSphere View.

Verifying the installation status

To verify that the installation was successful and that the view is working properly, follow these steps:

  1. Point your browser to http://<your_BMC_Capacity_Optimization_server>:<port>/console and sign in to the console using your credentials.
  2. Navigate to Views > All Views > Cloud, and if you can see the Cloud Capacity Visibility view under it, it means that the installation completed successfully.

Access the Cloud Capacity Visibility view. Ensure that the monitored infrastructure is represented correctly, and that all tables and charts are populated with data.

Viewing warning messages

In the Cloud View page, if data are older than 24 hours, a warning message is displayed suggesting to check if the data flow import process is correctly configured and executed. This portlet also shows a detailed list of ETLs related to the cloud infrastructure that were not correctly executed in the last 24 hours.
