BMC recommends that you install BMC ProactiveNet Report Engine on a computer different from the one on which SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise will be installed.

Before you begin

Before installing the Report Engine, ensure that:

  • You have administrator privileges on the host on which you are installing.
  • You have installed BMC ProactiveNet and the Oracle database on different computers.
  • You have access to the installation files.
  • You have created tablespaces and a user for the Oracle database.
  • If you are installing more than one Report Engine, ensure that you install the Report Engines one after another instead of installing them simultaneously.

To install BMC ProactiveNet Report Engine

  1. Navigate to the Reports/ReportEngine/platform folder, where platform is Linux, Solaris, or Windows.
    • For Windows, double-click ReportEngine9.0_bbuildnumber.exe.

    • For Solaris, at the command line, run the following command: sh ReportEngine9.0_bbuildnumber.bin
    • For Linux, at the command line, run the following command: ReportEngine9.0_bbuildnumber.bin

      Note

For Solaris and Linux installations, the installation file supports only the graphical user interface (GUI) mode, not the console or silent mode.

  2. In the Welcome page, click Next.
  3. In the License Agreement page, click I agree to the terms of the license agreement.
  4. In the Feature Selection page, select the appropriate features that you want to install.

Selecting the BMC ProactiveNet Report Engine Installation check box selects both the Install BMC ProactiveNet Report Engine 9.0.00 and Import universe and reports check boxes.

    Notes

When you select the Import universe and reports check box, it imports the BMC ProactiveNet Performance Management universe and reports into the SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise automatically. It eliminates the manual process of importing them into SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise. If you are installing BMC ProactiveNet Report Engine for the first time, BMC recommends you to import the universe and reports automatically.

If you are installing multiple instances of the Report Engine, and you want to configure the Tenant View Portal, select the Import universe and reports check box each time you install the Report Engine.

  5. In the Database Information page, provide the necessary information using the values that you populated in the Planning sheet for installation and configuration, and click Next.
  6. In the Time Zone Selection page, select an appropriate time zone, and click Next.

    Note

All the reports display data in the selected time zone. You can manually change the time zone at a later time. For details, see Changing the time zone of BMC ProactiveNet Report Engine manually.

  7. In the Directory Selection page, accept the default directory or select a different directory to install BMC ProactiveNet Report Engine, and click Next.

at %ORACLE_HOME%\NETWORK\ADMIN on a Windows platform and at $ORACLE_HOME/network/admin on a UNIX or Linux platform.
