Server Profiles are one of the primary objects that you work with in the BMC Middleware Automation product. Each application server instance that you want to configure with BMC Middleware Automation is described by a Server Profile, which contains the environment-specific information necessary to connect to the server and install Configurations. Server Profiles also hold token values that are specific to application server environments; these values are substituted into Configurations before the Configurations are installed on the server.

In the Application Navigator, you create Server Profiles in the Server Profiles folder. On your file system, a Server Profile is stored in an XML file with a .server extension.

The other objects that you work with in BMC Middleware Automation depend on Server Profiles, so you must create them first.
