When the BMC Middleware Automation product makes a secure connection to an IBM WebSphere Application Server, it relies on a truststore file containing a digitally signed public key to verify that it is interacting with a server with a legitimate certificate. Depending on your security requirements, you can obtain certificates from a certificate authority or generate and sign them yourself in-house.

To use the WebSphere truststore, you must copy the truststore file from the WebSphere application server installation to your BMC Middleware Automation workstation. You can find the location of the truststore file in the WebSphere installation in the WebSphere Administration Console by performing the following steps.

To locate and copy the WebSphere truststore

  1. Log on to the WebSphere Administration Console.
  2. Select Security > SSL certificate and key management.
  3. Under Related Items, click Key stores and certificates.
  4. Use the path for the NodeDefaultTrustStore, shown in the following figure, to locate the truststore file in your WebSphere installation and copy it to a directory on your BMC Middleware Automation workstation.
