    This topic describes how to restart (stop and start) services on the BusinessObjects Business Intelligence (BI) server (the reporting server). You can use either of the following options.

    Note

    Do not use the Start Web Server and Stop Web Server options in the Start menu under BMC Decision Support – Server Automation to attempt to start and stop the BusinessObjects BI server. These options start and stop Metadata Navigator.

    Method 1

    You can directly restart the computer that is hosting the BusinessObjects BI server, so that all BusinessObjects BI services are automatically restarted. You might need to verify that services are up and running after you restart the computer.

    To verify that services are up and running

    1. From the Start menu, select Programs > SAP BusinessObjects BI platform 4.0 > SAP BusinessObjects BI platform > Central Configuration Manager.
    2. Click Manage Servers .
    3. In the login page, enter the user name and password.
      There is sometimes a short delay. After waiting a short time, try to login again.
      A list of services is displayed.
    4. Click Refresh to get the latest services status.
      The State column will display the services as Running.

    Method 2

    If for any reason you cannot restart the computer that is hosting BusinessObjects BI, use the following instructions to restart the BusinessObjects BI services.

    To restart services

    1. From the Start menu, select Programs > SAP BusinessObjects BI platform 4.0 > SAP BusinessObjects BI platform > Central Configuration Manager.
    2. Select Server Intelligence Agent in the list and click Stop.
      Wait until the state of all services is Stopped.
    3. Select Server Intelligence Agent in the list and click Start.
      Wait until the state of all services is Running.
    4. Click Manage Servers .
    5. In the login page, enter the user name and password.
      There is sometimes a short delay. After waiting a short time, try to login again.
      A list of services is displayed.
    6. Click Refresh to get the latest services status.
      The State column will display the services as Running.
