This section describes how to install BMC Performance Assurance in silent mode. Silent installations are launched through the command line and use a response file, which details all of the parameters required to install the product. You can create a single response file and use it for multiple installations.

Possible scenarios for which you would use a response file are:

  • You want to run the installation in the background instead of interactively.
  • You are installing on a remote computer that cannot display a graphical user interface.
  • You want to maintain consistent installation configuration values across multiple computers.

Sample response files with default settings for silent installations are included in the BMC Performance Assurance install image. Modify the sample files instead of creating new ones. The sample files also include instructions on how to run the installation silently.
