Scenario for accessing limited licensed apps on multiple devices

Andrea receives a notification from BMC AppZone to install an application. She is unaware that this application only has a limited number of licenses. She initiates the installation of the application on her iPhone. She then decides to install the same application on her iPad and initiates the installation successfully.

How administrators enable this scenario

The BMC AppZone administrator configures support for an iOS version of the BMC AppZone Client.

The BMC AppZone administrator assigns the application as a required application to a group of users that includes Andrea and she receives the notification to install the application. BMC AppZone adds one license to the list of assigned licenses.

After Andrea initiates the installation of the application on her iPhone, BMC AppZone checks to see how many purchased licenses have already been consumed. The number of consumed licenses is less than the number of purchased licenses so the installation request from Andrea completes and BMC AppZone adds one license to the list of consumed licenses. If Andrea's request to install would increase the list of consumed licenses to be greater than the list of purchased licenses, then the installation would halt and Andrea would be notified.

When Andrea installs a second instance of the same application on her iPad, BMC AppZone adds one entry to the list of devices on which the application is installed. No additional licenses are consumed.
