On Microsoft Windows, the TrueSight Operations Management components are configured to run as a Local System user by default.

For security considerations, you can configure the TrueSight Operations Management components to run as a Network Service user.

Note

This option is available only with TrueSight Operations Management 10.5 Fix Pack 1 (10.5.00.001) or later.

Infrastructure Management server

  1. Access the Infrastructure Management server host as an administrator.
  2. Provide full permissions to the InstalledDirectory\pw folder for the Network Service user. See how.
  3. From the pw commands window, run the following command:
    pw servicelogon NetworkService
    The Infrastructure Management services are restarted and updated to run as a Network Service user.
  4. To revert the changes and run the Infrastructure Management services as a Local System user, run the following command from the pw commands window:
    pw servicelogon LocalSystem

Note

After you update the Infrastructure Management services to run as a Network Service user, the Infrastructure Management system tray icon disappears. You can access the program features through the Windows start menu.

Remote Integration Service

  1. Access the remote Integration Service host as an administrator.
  2. Provide full permissions to the InstalledDirectory\TSIMAgent folder for the Network Service user. See how.
  3. Run the following command:
    services.msc
  4. In the Services window, right-click the BMC TrueSight Infrastructure Management Integration Service entry and select Properties.
  5. Select the Log On tab.
  6. Under Log on as, select This account: and click Browse.
  7. In the Enter the object names to select box, enter Network service and select Check Names.
    The Network Service user is added.
  8. Clear the Password and Confirm password fields.
  9. Click Apply to save and apply the changes.

TrueSight Presentation Server

  1. Access the Presentation Server host as an administrator.
  2. Provide full permissions to the InstalledDirectory\truesightpserver folder for the Network Service user. See how.
  3. From a command prompt, go to the <installation directory>\truesightpserver\bin directory.
  4. Run the following command:
    tssh servicelogon NetworkService
    The Presentation Server services are restarted and updated to run as a Network Service user.
  5. To revert the changes and run the Presentation Server services as a Local System user, run the following command from the <installation directory>\truesightpserver\bin directory:
    tssh servicelogon LocalSystem

To provide full permissions to the installation folder

  1. Right-click the folder, select the Security tab, click Edit and then Add.
  2. In the Enter the object names to select box, enter Network service and select Check Names.
    The Network Service user is added.
  3. Provide full privileges to the Network Service user.
