Use the configNonRoot script to configure BMC ProactiveNet Server to run as a non-root user on Linux operating systems. Use the same script to switch the BMC ProactiveNet Server from one non-root user to another non root user.

To configure BMC ProactiveNet Server to run as a non-root user on Linux operating systems

  1. Ensure that you add the following file descriptor limits in the vi /etc/security/limits.conf file:
    # End of file
    userName hard nofile 4096
    userName soft nofile 4096
    userName soft nproc unlimited
    
  2. From the command line, execute the following commands:
    csh
    source /usr/pronto/bin/.tmcsh
    configNonRoot userName
  3. When prompted by the configNonRoot script, provide HTTP and HTTPS ports for Apache Server.
    The scripts perform the necessary changes.
