Features

The following are the features of BMC PATROL for Data Integration:

Creating custom performance data monitoring solutions

BMC PATROL for Data Integration (DI KM) provides the capability to define, configure, and create custom performance data monitoring solutions without specific Knowledge Module or PATROL Script Language (PSL) development expertise.

Integration with BMC ProactiveNet Performance Management 9.5 and 9.6

You can create the installation package for the BMC PATROL for Data Integration monitoring solution by using versions 9.5.00 and 9.6.00 of the BMC ProactiveNet Central Monitoring Administration Console.

For information, see Installing and Configuring after installation.

Configuring using XML

You can create new application classes and its parameters in an XML file for configuring the BMC PATROL for Data Integration monitoring solution. This XML file is loaded in the PATROL Agent directory.

For more information about creating application classes in an XML file, see Configuring BMC PATROL for Data Integration an XML.

Managing data

BMC PATROL for Data Integration supports Apache ActiveMQ Server (Messaging Server) for managing data. The data is collected form the third-party data provider using Java API or RESTful API. For more information about the messaging server, see Configuring Messaging Server.

Downloading the installation utility and the product files

This section provides information for downloading PATROL for Data Integration 1.0.00 from the BMC Electronic Product Distribution (EPD) website.

Note

If you have previously downloaded other BMC products, you might have an older version of the installation utility on your hard drive. BMC recommends that you use the latest version of Installation Utility, BMC Installation Utility 9.5.00. To download the latest version of the installation utility for this service pack, perform the following steps.

This section provides the information that you need to download and install the patch from the BMC Electronic Product Distribution (EPD) website. To download the patch and installation utility from the EPD website, perform the following steps:

  1. Create a directory in which to place the downloaded files.

    Note

On Windows computers, ensure that the directory is only one level into the directory structure. The EPD package creates a directory in the temporary directory when you extract the files, and the directory that contains the installation image should not be in a directory deeper than two levels into the directory structure.

  2. Go to http://www.bmc.com/available/epd.html.
  3. At the logon prompt, enter your user ID and password, and click Submit.
  4. On the Export Compliance and Access Terms page, provide the required information, agree to the terms of the agreements, and click Continue.
  5. If you are accessing this site for the first time, create an EPD profile to specify the languages and platforms that you want to see, per the EPD site help; otherwise, skip to step 6.
  6. Verify that the correct profile is displayed for your download purpose.
  7. You can download the installation utility and the product patch using either of the following methods:
