Prerequisites for configuring BMC ProactiveNet Converged Infrastructure Monitoring

This section lists the prerequisites required to install and configure BMC ProactiveNet Converged Infrastructure Monitoring.

Prerequisites for installing BMC ProactiveNet Converged Infrastructure Monitoring

Ensure that the following KMs are installed on the same BMC PATROL Agent:

  • BMC Performance Manager for Cisco UCS Manager
  • BMC Performance Manager for Cisco Nexus
  • BMC Performance Manager for Virtual Servers

For information about installing the KMs, see the BMC ProactiveNet Converged Infrastructure Monitoring documentation.

If you do not install the KMs listed above on the same system, you will not be able to use the complete functionality of the product. Device consolidation does not take place on BMC ProactiveNet and hence, you cannot see the full tree view of the Cisco UCS Manager topology.

Prerequisites for configuring the KMs

After installing the three KMs listed in the section above, you must set up and configure these KMs. Before configuring the KMs, you must have the following information:

  • Credentials for Cisco UCS Manager (host name, port number, user name, password , HTTPS or HTTP)
  • Credentials for the VMware vCenter (host name, port number, user name, password)
  • Credentials for Cisco UCS Manager gateway and for the Cisco UCS Manager 6100 Series Fabric Interconnects (user name, password)

    Warning

    Note

All fabric switches must have the same user name and password. The gateway has its own credentials.
