This section provides the information about downloading and installing the patch from the BMC Electronic Product Distribution (EPD) website. To download the patch and installation utility from the EPD website, perform the following steps:
Create a directory in which to place the downloaded files.
- Go to http://www.bmc.com/available/epd.html.
- At the logon prompt, enter your user ID and password, and click Submit.
- On the Export Compliance and Access Terms page, provide the required information, agree to the terms of the agreements and click Continue.
- If you are accessing this site for the first time, create an EPD profile to specify the languages and platforms that you want to see, per the EPD site help; otherwise, skip to step 6.
- Verify that the correct profile is displayed for your download purpose.
- You can download the installation utility and the product patch using either of the following methods:
- In the Filter Products: field, type BMC PATROL Installation Utility.
- Click Go.
In the right pane, click BMC PATROL Installation Utility.
- In the Version: list, select 10.5.00 and click Go.
In the Products tab, based on the operating system, select the checkbox next to the files.

- To go back to the product listing page to download other product files, or to logout from EPD, click the X icon that is displayed on the top-right of the pop-up window.
- In the Filter Products: field, type BMC PATROL for Microsoft Windows.
- Click Go.
- In the right pane, click BMC PATROL for Microsoft Windows.
- In the Version: list, select 4.9.00 and click Go.
In the Patches tab, select the checkbox next to the file.

Select the checkbox next to the files, based on the appropriate platforms.

You must install the patch on the following computers:
- Hosts that are running the PATROL Agent
- Hosts that are running the PATROL Console
Before you install the patch, complete the following steps:
- Stop the PATROL Agent.
- Back up the PATROL_CACHE directory.
- Delete all BMC PATROL for Microsoft Windows Servers files from the PATROL_CACHE directory.
- Back up the PATROL_HOME/lib/knowledge and PATROL_HOME/lib/psl directories.
After you have downloaded the installation utility and patch files, perform the following steps to install the patch:
Extract the installation utility:
- (Windows), double-click ins_WINDOWS_10500.zip.
- (UNIX), enter tar -xvf ins_ALL_10500.tar.
The contents of the files are extracted into the bmc_products subdirectory.
- Extract the patch file:
- (Windows), double-click psx_ALL_490002.zip.
The contents of the files are extracted into the bmc_products subdirectory.
From the bmc_products directory, run the installation utility as appropriate for your operating system:
Follow the on-screen instructions until the Select Products and Components to Install page is displayed.
On the Select Products and Components to Install page, select the patch components for installation as per your requirements.
PATROL Knowledge Module for Microsoft Windows Active Directory - Patch 1.8.20.01
PATROL Knowledge Module for Microsoft Windows Operating System - Patch 4.9.00.01
Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
After you complete the installation steps, you can delete the temporary directory and its contents.

Why is the only option on the "Select Products and Components to Install" page for "Patch 4.9.00.01"? Shouldn't it be "Patch 4.9.00.02" for psx_ALL_490002.zip?

Hi Shea,
Starting with this patch release, all the patches will be cumulative and will include fixes from the earlier patch versions as well. For example, 4.9.00.02 patch contains fixes from 4.9.00.01 along with AD patch 1.8.20.01.
