Installation issue: Language pack data and integration not imported

When you run the BMC Remedy ITSM or BMC Service Request Management installer to install additional language packs, the newly selected locale specific data and integration are not imported. 

For example, you install the BMC Remedy ITSM or BMC Service Request Management with the English language pack. Later, when you re-run the installer to add more language packs, the newly selected locale specific data and integration are not imported.

This issue was fixed in Service Pack 1 for version 8.1.00.

    The only affected use-case in  8.0 and 8.1 GA is  case 4 :

    Let me elaborate the 5 cases using 8.1 as a example :

    1] GUI Install :  If customer already has all the required locales in old version say 7604 SP2 and you will be using UI install then installer will upgrade all required language packs , views, data.


    2]  Silent Install :  If customer already has all the required locales in old version say 7604 SP2 And one is doing a silent install then , one needs to mention the required language packs correctly in silent_install_ini file.  A template can be found under Installer\Disk1\utilities\ folder.

    3] If customer has only En locale on say 7604 Sp2 and they upgrade to 8.1 . Then only En locale will be upgraded. You cannot select additional locales during ITSM ,SRM upgrade. 

    •  Install recommended and latest 8.1 patch for AR. If done immediately after AR 8.1 upgrade then better.
    •  If they want to re-run Remedy ITSM , SRM apps installer for additional locales then one will have to use FIXED 8.1 ITSM and SRM Apps Installers from  KB

    •   Install recommended and latest 8.1 Apps patch if any locale specific hotfix are available in patch.

    4] Eg.  If customer did Fresh Install of 8.1 with only En locale / language pack.

    •  So in order to install additional language packs re-run installer and select additional language pack.
    •  For AR and Atrium use 8.1 GA installers and select additional locales.
    • Install latest 8.1 AR Patch.
    •   For Apps , If one wants to re-run installer for Additional Locales then one will have to use FIXED 8.1 ITSM and SRM Apps Installers from  KB

     5 ]  Fresh Install : This use-case works perfectly fine and one can choose required language packs during fresh install. 

     

    Note :  The affected case 4 is fixed in 8.1 SP1 installers.
