4.2.20 Feature Pack 2

This section contains information about the features in PATROL for iSeries 4.2.20.

Filter active jobs by job subsystem

You can now monitor an active job that is associated with one or more of the following:

  • A single subsystem.
  • A group of subsystems whose name begins with a specific string.
  • All the subsystems.

The filter determines which subsystems to use while returning the active job information.

Filter active jobs by job status

You can now filter an active job by the job status.

You can enter a comma-separated list of the job status or use * (asterisk) to include all the statuses. All the jobs with the specified status are included for monitoring.

Example: PRTA,OPTA,SIGW,END, and so on.

Generate CPU usage and Qualifying Jobs report

You can now generate the following reports for a specific remote host:

  • List Top Ten Jobs by CPU Usage

    Displays the list of the top ten active jobs that consume the maximum amount of CPU time.

  • List Jobs Above CPU Threshold

    Displays the list of active jobs that exceed the CPU threshold value specified by the user in the Job CPU Threshold field while configuring the active jobs.

  • List Qualifying Jobs

    Displays the list of individual jobs in a group of several jobs that are monitored with a single job ID.

Installing the feature pack

The PATROL for iSeries 4.2.20 feature pack contains all of the files that are required for a complete product release. You can install the product as a fresh installation. 

Before you begin

You must install the feature pack on the following computers:

  • Hosts that are running the PATROL Agent
  • Hosts that are running the PATROL console

Before you install the feature pack, complete the following steps:

  1. Stop the PATROL Agent.
  2. Back up the PATROL_CACHE directory.
  3. Delete all PATROL for iSeries files from the PATROL_CACHE directory.
  4. Back up the PATROL_HOME/lib/knowledge and PATROL_HOME/lib/psl directories.
