Changing task statuses

Tasks users members of teams of the project, Project Manager of the project, Portfolio Manager, Project Masters, Portfolio Masters and Project Managers with write additional access in the project, can move the task to different statuses throughout its lifecycle.

To change a task status

  1. Log in to the Agility Suite application
  2. Open the task where you want to modify it, in different ways:
    1. Navigate to Workspaces > Projects and open a project on the Projects workspace by clicking the required project ID.
      • If the task is related to a sprint or phase, go to the Sprints or Phases tab and click the required sprint ID or phase ID. On the sprint or phase page, go to the Tasks tab and click the required task ID.
      • Otherwise, go to the Tasks in the Backlog tab or Global Tasks tab, and click the required task ID.
      • If the task is related to a task, it is a subtask, once you open the parent task, go to the Subtasks tab and click the required task ID.
    2. Navigate to Workspaces > Project Tasks and open the task on the Project Tasks workspace by clicking the required task ID.
  3. On the task details page, click Edit.

  4. Select the required value in the Status field. The following table lists the required status change based on actions you can perform on a task:

    Backlog


    The project manager decides the task is going to be implemented in the project without sprint or phase related, i. e., the project manager decides the task is a global task.

    The action is not allowed if the task is a subtask, it is related to a parent task.

    To Do

    The project manager decides the task is not going to be implemented.

    If there is a requirement related to the task, then it is unrelated and changes the status from 'In Project' to In Backlog automatically.

    Cancelled
    To Do


    The Task user starts to work on the task.

    In Progress

    The task is pending for one of the following reasons:

    • User task needs a response from the client or project manager.
    • The task is pending to be tested by the client or project manager.

    Pending status requires a Status Reason: Client Hold, In Review, Testing.

    Pending

    Task has been completed by the task user.

    If there is a requirement related to the task, then it is unrelated and changes the status from 'In Project' to In Backlog automatically.

    Done

    The project manager or task user decides the task is not going to be implemented.

    If there is a requirement related to the task, it changes the status from "In Project" to "In Backlog" and it is unrelated to the task automatically.

    Cancelled
    In Progress

    The Task user or project manager suspends the implementation of the task, maybe the task is reassigned to other teams or task users.

    To Do

    The task is pending for one of the following reasons:

    • User task needs a response from the client or project manager.
    • The task is pending to be tested by the client or project manager.

    Pending status requires a Status Reason: Client Hold, In Review, Testing.

    Pending

    Task has been completed by the task user.

    If there is a requirement related to the task, it changes the status from 'In Project' to Delivered automatically.

    Done

    The project manager or task user decides the task is not going to be implemented.

    If there is a requirement related to the task, then it is unrelated and changes the status from 'In Project' to In Backlog automatically.

    Cancelled
    Pending



    The Task user or project manager suspends the implementation of the task, maybe the task is reassigned to other teams or task users.To Do
    The Task user continues working on the task.In Progress

    Task has been completed by the task user.

    If there is a requirement related to the task, it changes the status from 'In Project' to Delivered automatically.

    Done

    The project manager or task user decides the task is not going to be implemented.

    If there is a requirement related to the task, then it is unrelated and changes the status from 'In Project' to In Backlog automatically.

    Cancelled
  5. Click Save.
