Updates in the 2.9.00.03 patch

Removing IP address of a availability target from event description

If a user is monitoring the remote hosts for availability and does not want the IP address in notify event description then the user need to set newly introduced pconfig variable "/AS/EVENTSPRING/AVAILABILITY/ignoreHostIp"  with value 1.

By default this variable does not exist.

Downloading the patch and installation utility

This section contains instructions for downloading the patch from the BMC Electronic Product Distribution (EPD) website.

  1. Create a temporary directory in which to place the downloaded files.

    Note

On Windows computers, ensure that the directory is only one level into the directory structure. The EPD package creates a directory in the temporary directory when you extract the files, and the directory that contains the installation image should not be in a directory deeper than two levels into the directory structure.

  2. Go to http://www.bmc.com/available/epd.html.
  3. Enter your user ID and password, and click Submit.
  4. On the Export Compliance and Access Terms page, provide the required information, agree to the terms of the agreements, and click Continue.
  5. If you are accessing the EPD site for the first time, create an EPD profile to specify the language(s) and platform(s) that you want to see; otherwise, skip to the next step. For more information about EPD profiles, see the Profile section of the Help page for the EPD website.
  6. Verify that the correct profile is displayed for your download purpose, and select the Product Patches tab.
  7. Expand BMC Performance Manager for Servers to show the available versions.
  8. Expand BMC Performance Manager for Servers 3.4.00 to show the available components.
  9. Expand BMC PATROL Agent 9.5.00 to show the available patches.
  10. Based on the operating system, select the check boxes next to the files and documents that you want to download.

  11. To download the selected files, click Download (FTP) or Download Manager.
    • Download (FTP) places the selected items in an FTP directory, and the credentials and FTP instructions are sent to you in an email message.
    • Download Manager enables you to download multiple files consecutively and to resume an interrupted download.
This method requires a one-time installation of the Akamai NetSession client program on the target computer and is usually the faster and more reliable way to transfer files. A checksum operation is used to verify file integrity automatically.
  12. On the EPD site, select the Licensed Products tab.
  13. Expand BMC Performance Manager for Servers to show the available versions.
  14. Expand BMC Performance Manager for Servers 3.4.00 to show the available products/components.
