Complete the installation and configuration tasks described in Getting started with visualizing business service relationships.

To view business service relationships

Perform these steps to view the business service relationships defined in the BMC Atrium CMDB that affect a particular server in BMC BladeLogic Server Automation. This procedure can be particularly useful to administrators who are considering making changes to servers or troubleshooting problems with servers.

Task

Description and reference

In BMC BladeLogic Server Automation, launch the CI Viewer

  1. In BMC BladeLogic Server Automation, use the Servers folder to navigate to a server.
  2. Right-click the server and select Run Custom Commands.
  3. Select Launch CI Viewer and click OK. BMC BladeLogic Server Automation opens a browser window, which displays the login screen for BMC Atrium Explorer.

    Note

Currently you have to manually enter https instead of http on the browser window.

  4. Log on. BMC Atrium Explorer provides a graphic representation of the server from the Atrium perspective.
See "Using data federation to view reports" in the BMC BladeLogic Atrium Integration Implementation Guide

    Note

If you are using a high-availability configuration for BMC Remedy Action Request System (AR System), you must modify the Launch CI Viewer command. In high-availability configurations, BMC BladeLogic Atrium Integration may be configured with information about a load balancer for a BMC Remedy AR System server group. For the command to work, however, it must specify a particular BMC Remedy AR System server, such as the primary server. The BMC Remedy AR System mid-tier configuration should have primary and secondary AR servers included with the mid-tier load balancer.

Examine information about the server and its business relationships in Atrium.

Using BMC Atrium Explorer, view details about the server that are included in BMC Atrium CMDB, including upward and downward business service dependencies and a list of impacted services.

For a full description of the actions that you can perform using BMC Atrium Explorer, see "Atrium Explorer Interface" in the BMC Atrium CMDB User's Guide.
