This topic provides a high-level description of the installation and configuration tasks required to implement the Triage and Remediation solution.

Installation roadmap

The following table lists the products and versions that are required for the Triage and Remediation solution.

Step 1. Configure the ProactiveNet server cell

BMC ProactiveNet Performance Management

To enable BMC ProactiveNet Performance Management to communicate with BMC Atrium Orchestrator, you configure the server cell on the BMC ProactiveNet Performance Management server side and configure the BMC Atrium Orchestrator BMC Event Manager and ProactiveNet adapter on the BMC Atrium Orchestrator server side.

Step 2. Configure the BMC Atrium Orchestrator BMC Event Management and ProactiveNet monitor and actor adapters

Step 3. Configure BMC Remedy ITSM Task Management support

BMC Remedy IT Service Management

If your current BMC Remedy ITSM configuration does not support tasks relationships, install the BMC Remedy ITSM Task Management patch that enables the assignment of multiple network configuration items (CI) to a network task.

Step 4. Configure group auto assignments in BMC Remedy ITSM

BMC Remedy IT Service Management

You must configure auto assignments for the change requests created by the Triage and Remediation for BMC ProactiveNet Performance Management.

Step 5. Configure the BMC Remedy ITSM templates

BMC Remedy IT Service Management

For installations requiring a custom solution, or if you want to complete the ITSM configuration, you can use the BMC Remedy ITSM Application Administration Console to create and configure a new company, create a template, or modify existing templates.

Step 6. Export and enable the required adapters

BMC Atrium Orchestrator

Adapters provide the interface between workflow processes and external systems and applications. BMC Atrium Orchestrator configures adapters to establish connections and facilitate communications.

Step 7. Configure and deploy the required Operations Actions (OA) management modules

BMC Atrium Orchestrator

The Triage and Remediation for BMC ProactiveNet Performance Management solution requires that the following modules are installed using the BMC Atrium Orchestrator Content Installer. After the content installation completes, import and unbundle the modules into BMC Atrium Orchestrator Development Studio.

Step 8. Configure the Credential Store

BMC Atrium Orchestrator

The Credential Store contains the information the BMC Atrium Orchestrator needs in order to communicate with the computers in your environment. You must configure the Credential Store to your environment.

Step 9. Configure the Triage and Remediation module

The content installer provides a default configuration for the module, but you can modify the configuration to customize it for your system. You will need to provide some configuration information for the Host Down and the OS Disk Full configuration groups. Review the workflow discussions in "Using Triage and Remediation" before you configure any of the configuration groups in the Triage and Remediation module.
