BMC Change Automation features are available out of the box in BMC Server Automation version 8.9 and BMC Remedy ITSM version 9.1.02. However, you need to run the BMC Change Automation installer on a computer (either on the same computer running BMC Server Automation or on a separate computer) for this integration to work.

Installation overview

The BMC Change Automation installer performs the following:

  • If BMC Atrium Orchestrator version 7.9 and the latest BAO patch is installed on the computer, running the BMC Change Automation installer installs the runbooks for the solution to work and configures the required modules and adapters.
  • If BMC Atrium Orchestrator version 7.9 is NOT installed on the computer, running the BMC Change Automation installer installs BMC Atrium Orchestrator 7.9 and the latest BAO patch, and configures the modules and adapters on that computer.
  • If you are using an older version of BMC Atrium Orchestrator, you must upgrade BMC Atrium Orchestrator to version 7.9, apply the latest BAO patch and then run the BMC Change Automation installer on the same computer.

Note

You can download the latest BMC Atrium Orchestrator patch from the Patches tab of BMC Atrium Orchestrator Platform from the BMC Electronic Product Distribution (EPD) site.

For information about upgrading BMC Atrium Orchestrator, see Upgrading Open link in the BMC Atrium Orchestrator Platform 7.9 online documentation.

Important

The existing implementation of Operator-Initiated Change use case is a part of continuous compliance of servers use cases. For more information, see  Continuous compliance of servers Open link in the BMC BladeLogic Automation Suite 8.9 online documentation.

When you install BMC Change Automation, the older implementation of Operator-Initiated Change use case (OIC 1.0) is not removed. Only after the new integration is configured in BMC Server Automation, OIC 1.0 (older version of continuous compliance of servers) is upgraded to the latest version of BMC Change Automation 2.0. This change is irreversible and it is advised that you proceed with caution.

To get the BMC Change Automation features, you must enable the BMC Change Automation features after installation. For more information, see Postinstallation procedures.

The another document Performing the installation says: You must be logged on as an administrator and have administrator rights for the computer on which you install the CDP.

It's not very clear where Change automation installer should be executed.
