December 2021

Enhanced NetApp Systems view

The Controllers and Ports tab in Clusters and HA Pairs views now displays the type, name, parents, port type, address, bandwidth for each controller and port. For more information, see NetApp Systems view.

ETL module enhancements

The following ETL modules are enhanced to support new features and additional metrics:

Moviri Integrator for TrueSight Capacity Optimization – k8s (Kubernetes) Prometheus
  • Improved the quality of imported data when a pod is restarted.
  • Improved the way the ETL works when no data is extracted due to incorrect extraction period. For example, expired Last Counter value.
  • Added the pod restart count and information about the HPA at the pod workload level.
  • Extended support for OpenShift 4.7.19+
Moviri Integrator for TrueSight Capacity Optimization - EntuityAdded the option to import the entity interface alias as an interface name (metric subresource name).
Moviri Integrator for TrueSight Capacity Optimization - Dynatrace
  • Added support to import additional metrics at the host, service, and application levels (includes custom metrics).
  • Extended support for the Dynatrace tag at the host, service, and application levels.

Enhanced Kubernetes view

The following enhancements are added to Kubernetes view:

  • Added the RESTART_COUNT metrics at the pod workload level.
  • Added the option to show or hide a column in the view.

The following ETL modules are enhanced to support new features and capabilities:

Option to specify custom HTTP headers in the ETL run configuration.
Moviri Integrator for TrueSight Capacity Optimization – k8s (Kubernetes) Prometheus
  • Updated the ETL to:

    • Enable or disable the importing of controller-level metrics

      When the collection of controller and POD workload metrics is disabled, the controller entities are not listed in the Workspace and in the Kubernetes view.

    • Import multiple Node Role tags
    • Update the last counter value automatically when the performance or configuration metrics are not imported during the ETL run
  • Updated the default value of the following parameters:
    • Max Extraction Period is set to five days (120 hours)
    • Use Kubernetes API is set to yes
  • Support for OpenShift 4.7.18 and later
Storage All-in-One ETL for TrueSight Capacity OptimizationSupport for Huawei OceanStor storage systems via the REST API.

Enhancements to views

Updated the following views to change the days to saturation limit for data marts to 90 days:

Updated the Kubernetes view to:

  • Hide the usage columns in the following tabs of the Nodes page: CPU and Memory
  • Display the following metrics with revised calculation:
    • MEM USED_REQUEST and CPU_USED_REQUEST using MEM_UTIL_REQUEST and CPU_UTIL_REQUEST
    • MEM_USED_LIMIT and CPU_USED_LIMIT using MEM_UTIL_LIMIT and CPU_UTIL_LIMIT

Enhanced Microsoft SCOM ETL

The Microsoft SCOM ETL includes the CPU_TOTAL_MHZ and CPU_UTILMHZ metrics on generic entities for the extended use case.

Moviri Integrator for TrueSight Capacity Optimization – k8s (Kubernetes) Prometheus
  • Modified the Highmark metrics to support Prometheus 2.7 and later.
  • Added the HPA related configuration metrics at the controller level.
  • Aggregated the MEM_REQUEST_MAX, MEM_LIMIT_MAX, CPU_REQUEST_MAX, and CPU_LIMIT_MAX metrics for the namespace and cluster entities.
Moviri Integrator for TrueSight Capacity Optimization - Microsoft SCOM

Updated the following metrics for the extended use case:

  • CPU_TOTAL_MHZ
  • CPU_UTILMHZ

Enhanced Kubernetes view

The Kubernetes view now includes the following enhancements:

  • Updated the calculation for the following metrics:
    MEM_USED_REQUEST, CPU_USED_REQUEST, MEM_USED_LIMIT, and CPU_USED_LIMIT
  • Modified the parallel running and data materializer task to improve the page load time
  • Updated the cluster to display the following metrics:
    MEM_REQUEST_MAX, MEM_LIMIT_MAX, CPU_REQUEST_MAX, and CPU_LIMIT_MAX
  • Modified the entity query to show the namespaces with only configuration metrics

Red Hat Ceph View renamed to Ceph View

The Red Hat Ceph View is renamed to Ceph View. If you have previously installed the Red Hat Ceph View, BMC recommends that you manually delete the Red Hat Ceph Capacity Views – Data Mart Materializer system task. For details, see Ceph Systems view.

The following ETL modules are enhanced to support new features and additional metrics:

  • Added the option to import hosts as cloud entities based on the cloud type.
  • Added the option to import all services.
Hitachi Device Manager ETL for TrueSight Capacity Optimization
  • Improved the method used to collect metrics for Volumes by using a single request to make it faster.
  • Added the ST_DISK_TYPE metric to Storage Pool entities. This configuration metric refers to the Disk Type and Disk RPM of the given Parity Group.
  • Increased the default timeout for REST requests up to 1 hour.
Storage All-in-One ETL for TrueSight Capacity Optimization
  • Red Hat Ceph REST is now referred to as Ceph REST
  • Support for Hitachi G Series (REST API)
  • Support for Pure Storage (REST API v2.4+)
  • Improved the content of the Timeout log file.
  • Improved Storage Engine performance to avoid Java Out of Memory issues.

  • New metrics in NetApp SolidFire (REST):

    • ST_SYSTEM_PORT_NUM: Total number of ports on the storage array
    • ST_METADATA_USED_PCT: Percentage of metadata used in the storage array

  • New metric in Dell EMC XtremIO (REST):

    • ST_SYSTEM_PORT_NUM: Total number of ports on the storage array

  • New metrics in Pure Storage (REST):

    • ST_AVAILABLE_FOR_STORAGE_POOLS: Available capacity for Storage Pools (raw space available for storage pool creation)
    • ST_COMPRESSION_RATIO: Overall ratio of the compressed data of the entity

  • New metrics in IBM DS888x:

    • ST_AVAILABLE_FOR_STORAGE_POOLS: Raw space available for storage pool creation
    • ST_AVAILABLE_IN_STORAGE_POOLS: Total unused space across all storage pools

  • New metric in Dell EMC VMAX (WBEM):

    • ST_POOL_RAID_LEVEL: RAID level of the storage pool

  • New metric in Ceph Storage:

    • ST_SYSTEM_PORT_NUM: Total number of ports
NetApp Data ONTAP ETL for TrueSight Capacity Optimization
  • Added the ST_SAVED_SPACE_PCT metric that reports on the percentage of space savings achieved by using deduplication and data compression.
  • Fixed the relationship between an Ethernet Port and Controller for reporting.
