Recommendations for the vSphere View provides a set of recommended actions to help you resolve issues highlighted and identified by the Resource Monitor for your vSphere virtualization environment. It also provides actionable information on how to avoid potential capacity risks and improve overall efficiency.
As a Capacity Manager, Recommendations can provide you with “advice”: either a capacity risk requires an action and you can avoid it, or an efficiency opportunity requires an action for you to take advantage of it.

Recommendations help you in answering critical questions related to your vSphere virtualization environment, such as the following:
Recommendations are classified in the following categories:
A Resource Monitor rule is an event that is raised by the Resource Monitor, when a condition or set of conditions defined in a resource monitor rule is met. BMC TrueSight Capacity Optimization generates recommended actions to suggest corrective actions on a defined alert raised by the Resource Monitor.
Recommendations are generated when a defined resource monitor rule is triggered, and that causes either a Warning or a Critical alert status to be generated. Risk Recommendations have the same recommendation status as their associated alert status, whereas Efficiency Recommendations do not have an associated recommendation status.
For more information on configuring Resource Monitor rules to generate Recommendations, see Adding a rule to provide vSphere recommendations.
