The Chargeback - Report view allows you to view and export Chargeback Scheduled reports. Reports can be scheduled to be generated at fixed time intervals (for example, weekly, bi-monthly, monthly). All generated results are stored in the TrueSight Capacity Optimization database and can be accessed for a specified latency time.

It also provides access to generated scheduled reports for the charges of cost objects associated with services, based on a defined time period. You can export, download and save a copy of the reports in several formats. To view documentation on how to schedule reports, see Scheduling Enterprise Chargeback reports.

The Chargeback - Report view in TrueSight Capacity Optimization consists of the following tabs:

Working with the Reports tab

The Reports tab in the Chargeback - Report view lists root folders that contain cost model templates. Each of these root folders contain individual cost model sub-folders that hold the actual reports associated with the cost model.

 The Reports tab enables you to perform the following tasks:

To view a list of reports associated with a cost model

The Reports tab displays the Chargeback Scheduled reports portlet by default. This portlet lists all the folders that contain the actual reports associated with a cost model, and the contents and structure of this portlet change as per your selection.

The following figure shows the Chargeback Scheduled reports portlet drilled down to report level. The Business Model - 01. Daily - By Cost Object report is selected, and details of this report are displayed to the right side. You also see a Results table that contains reports of all execution results of the selected cost model.

Navigating through the Chargeback Scheduled reports portlet

  • To go up one folder level in the portlet, click the icon
  • To go one folder level deeper, click the name of the cost model or cost template
  • A cost model or template in the portlet is identified by the icon, and a report by the icon.
  • To view the Results table for a report, click on the name of the report

To view and export reports of model execution results

The Reports tab lists all scheduled reports and details of each one of them along with their results. From here, you can also export results in various formats.

In the Reports tab, you can view all the periods over which your Chargeback reports have been scheduled. If you click on a scheduled report name in the Reports Portlet, the view to the right side of the Reports Portlet displays a brief description of the scheduled report, and below it, you will see all the periods, in the form of different tables, over which the selected report has been scheduled. Refer to the following image to view an example.

Each row in the scheduled period table corresponds to a report result, and contains the following information:

Name of the result. For example, August 2012.

Available formats

Gives you an option to view and export the result in one of the following formats:

  • : Native Report Viewer (default)
  • : HTML
  • : Adobe PDF
  • : Microsoft XLS
  • : Microsoft Word
  • : Microsoft PPT

Generation date

Generation date of the report.

To view and export the results in native report viewer format

After you click the Native Report Viewer icon in the Available Formats column in the table, the report is displayed in the Report Viewer tab in Native Report Viewer format.

You can perform various operations on reports in this format from within the Chargeback -Report view itself.

To view and export results in any available format

After you click the appropriate icon in the Available Formats column, the report is displayed in the Report Viewer tab in the format you have selected. See note.

Note

Reports in Microsoft XLS, PPT and DOC formats open in their native applications, irrespective of the browser you are using the BMC TrueSight Capacity Optimization console on.

Working with the Report Viewer tab

The Report Viewer tab displays and allows you to export reports and report data of model execution results. It consists of a report description portlet, and a report viewer portlet.

To export reports and report data of model execution results

You can export a full report or export report data from the Report Viewer tab. This option is available only when you are viewing a report in the native Report Viewer format.

The native Report Viewer format allows you to perform the following operations from within the Chargeback - Report view itself, unlike some other formats, that require their parent applications to perform certain operations.

  • Switch between viewing reports for different dates: Select a date from the Date list.
  • Switch between viewing reports in different formats: Select a format from the Format list.
  • Show a table of contents in the report based on report headings: Click the icon.
  • Export report data: Click the icon.
  • Export the report: Click the icon.
  • Print the report: Click the icon.
  • Go to a specific page number in the report: Enter the page number in the Go to page text box, and press Enter.
  • Open the report in a new browser window: Click the Open in a new window link.

Note

When you click the timestamp link in the Result Date column of the Results table, the report opens (by default) in the native report viewer format. To open the report directly from the Results table in another format, click the appropriate icon in the Last Result column.

To switch between report formats

If you want to switch to a different format to view your report in or export your report to:

  1. Select the format to switch to from the Formats list.
  2. From the confirmation dialog box that your browser displays, choose to Open the report file (to view it instantly), or Save it (to download it, and view it later), and then click OK.
    The report is displayed in the format you have selected.
