The TrueSight console provides you with out-of-the-box page templates for creating custom views. Each template provides access to a specific type of data and presents it in a predefined format. The pages in out-of-the-box views are also based on these templates.

A view consists of a set of pages that are based on these templates. When creating a custom view, you need to configure these templates to meet your specific requirements.

Based on your requirement, you can use the following view templates to configure views:

Oops, it seems that you need to place a table or a macro generating a table within the Table Filter macro.

The table is being loaded. Please wait for a bit ...

TemplateDescriptionSample view page using the template
Custom text1

The Custom text template enables you to create a view page with customized textual content. It allows you to add images, tables, and links to the custom text. You can use this template to add information about the other view pages. For more information, see Configuring the custom text template

Data mart explorer1

The template displays detail charts/table based on a data mart. You can use this template for generating charts from detailed data that is extracted from a data mart. For more information, see Configuring the Data mart explorer template.

Donut charts

Displays numeric metrics and indicators in the form of donuts.

For example, you can display the ranking of capacity pools based on Usage, Risk, and Efficiency scores, in the form of donuts.

For more information, see Configuring the Donut charts template.

Golden model results1

Displays charts that are generated from the last run of a Golden model.

The charts in this view enable you to perform any one of the following tasks:

  • Predict the future behavior of one or more performance metrics by observing their past behavior captured over time by using a time-forecasting model.
  • Estimate metric values as functions of other metrics by using an extrapolation model.

For more information, see Configuring the Golden model results template.

Summary table

Displays summary data in the form of a table.

It provides a summary of elements based on the selected data and filters. For example, you can use it to provide an executive summary for the number of clusters, hosts and virtual machines managed by a selected server.

For more information, see Configuring the Summary table template.

System data explorer

Displays detail charts relative to a given system. This view is useful when you want to show the behavior of entity-specific performance metrics over fixed time periods.

These views display the resource utilization of key metrics and these metrics are displayed in separate charts. The data (tables, charts, analyses), available metrics, and granularity in these views is based on data present in the BMC TrueSight Capacity Optimization database.

For more information, see Configuring the System data explorer template.

System details

Displays the details of a selected system.

You can configure summary information, configuration details, and contained elements in this view. This is a drill-down type of template, that is, you can add links to detailed information related to that view that take you to other views or view pages.

For more information, see Configuring the System details template.

System group data explorer1

Enables you to compare metrics across systems belonging to a group.

The charts in this view also enable you to drill down to a metric for systems in a system group.

For more information, see Configuring the System group data explorer template.

System time forecasting1

Enables you to display charts that are generated from the last run of a time-forecasting model for a system. A time-forecasting model generates the future behavior trend for one or more performance metrics by observing their past behavior captured over time.

For more information, see  Configuring the System time forecasting template.

Tree map

Displays data in the form of a tree map.

This view is a space-filling visualization view that displays data in a hierarchical structure. It displays hierarchical, or tree-structured, data as a set of nested rectangles. It is especially effective in revealing attributes of nodes using size and color coding.

For more information, see Configuring the Tree Map template.

Visual map1

Enables you to draw an illustration or a map by using different shapes and symbols and associate them with systems by using a data mart. You can customize a node by changing its color based on a metric threshold.

For more information, see Configuring the Visual map template.

1 These templates are available only if you apply the Feature Pack 1 (10.7.01) of TrueSight Capacity Optimization 10.7.
