Use the information in this topic to verify if the TrueSight Capacity Optimization installation completed successfully.

Before you begin

Before you begin verifying the TrueSight Capacity Optimization instance, you must complete the activities described in Installing Application Server components.

To verify that TrueSight Capacity Optimization services are running

  1. At $CPITBASE, type ./cpit status.
A list of installed BMC TrueSight Capacity Optimization services and their current status is displayed.
Example of a list of running TrueSight Capacity Optimization services
  2. Verify that all installed TrueSight Capacity Optimization services are RUNNING.

The following table lists TrueSight Capacity Optimization components and the services that correspond to each component:

    Component

    Web service

    Scheduler service

    Service Container service

    Data Hub service

    Httpd service

For example, if you have installed a Primary Scheduler and the Data Hub, verify that the Scheduler, Data Hub, and Httpd services, are RUNNING; if you have enabled the Service Container component, verify that the Service Container is also RUNNING.
For more details about managing the TrueSight Capacity Optimization services, see Administrative procedures.

To verify that the TrueSight Capacity Optimization Console functions properly

  1. Open a compatible browser.
  2. Go to http://<host>:8000/console or https://<host>:8443/console, where <host> is the computer or virtual machine on which you installed TrueSight Capacity Optimization.
For example, http://<hostname>:8000/console or https://<hostname>:8443/console (for HTTP Secure).
  3. Verify that the TrueSight Capacity Optimization Console is displayed, and then log on with the following credentials:
    Username: admin
    Password: admin

    Note

One user account, admin, is built in to TrueSight Capacity Optimization. The default password for the admin user account is admin. BMC recommends changing the password for admin immediately after installation. For information about how to change the password for a user account, see  Adding and managing user accounts.

  4. Verify that the Welcome page is displayed.

    Additional information

A message is displayed if the date and time of the application server server and database are not in sync. You must sync the date and time on both the servers.

Where to go from here

After you verify that the typical TrueSight Capacity Optimization installation is successful, configure the Application Server after the installation.
