The Solaris Zone view is an Oracle Solaris implementation of operating system-level virtualization that provides a protected environment for applications to run in, and acts as isolated virtual servers within a single operating system instance. The applications are protected to provide software fault isolation.

To facilitate the management of multiple applications and their environments, they co-exist within one operating system instance, and are managed as one entity. A native, default zone on the Oracle Solaris OS is called a container, and the terms zone and container are often used interchangeably.

The Solaris Zone view enables you to manage the capacity of a virtualized infrastructure that runs the Solaris zones.

To access the Solaris Zone view, in the TrueSight console navigation pane, select > Capacity Views > Virtualization > Solaris > Zone. The Solaris Zone page contains subviews that provide details about Solaris zone hosts, zones, future saturations, and maps.

Settings for the Solaris Zone view

You can use the Settings page to configure the settings for all pages in the Solaris Zone view. To access this page, on the Solaris Zone view page, select > Edit Settings.


Local settings

You can manage the local thresholds by configuring the Maps Settings and Other Settings.

Maps Settings

CPU Utilization % Modify the required values for displaying the threshold values for the CPU utilization in the Maps page of the Solaris Zone view:
  • In the Low Threshold box, edit the threshold value for CPU utilization in percentage. The entities with capacity starting from 0 to value below the value in this box are displayed in the shades of blue color.

  • In the Good Threshold box, edit the threshold value for CPU utilization in percentage. The entities with capacity starting from the value in the Low Threshold box to the value below the value in this box are displayed in the shades of green color.

  • In the Warn Threshold box, edit the threshold value for CPU utilization in percentage. The entities with capacity starting from the value in the Good Threshold box to the value below the value in this box are displayed in the shades of yellow color.
    The entities with capacity above the value in the Warn Threshold box are displayed in the shades of red color.

Other Settings

Show Benchmark Type

Edit the required Benchmark Type in the box. Use the subresource for resource BYBENCHMARK_VALUE.

Global settings

  • The Thresholds link opens the Thresholds page in the TrueSight Capacity Optimization Console. For more details, see Adding and viewing thresholds.
  • The Indicator Parameters link opens the Indicator Parameters page in the TrueSight Capacity Optimization Console. For more details, see Indicator Parameters.
