The Regions tab denotes an infrastructure segregation that is used for separating geographic areas. It lets you view capacity and decision support metrics at the region level in OpenStack views.

You can access the Regions tab in one of the following ways:

  • Select Views > All Views > Cloud > OpenStack > Availability Zones.
  • In the OpenStack > Cloud details page, click the Regions link under the Configuration Data table.

Days to SaturationThe projected amount of time before one of the resources (CPU, MEMORY, STORAGE) in the Region runs out of available capacity. Bottleneck ResourceName of the resource that has either saturated or will saturate in the next 30 days. Bottleneck resource can be CPU, MEMORY or STORAGE. The field is blank if none of the resources has saturated, or will saturate.Computed by AFS using total capacity and 95th utilization of CPU, Memory and Storage

Viewing detailed information about a region

After you select a region from the Name column, the Regions tab is refreshed and displays a number of portlets such as analysis charts, contained elements, and utilization tables that display detailed resource and utilization information. To use a different region, click the  icon and select from the list.

The following table describes each of these portlets in detail.

Cloud information

Information

Displays information such as region name, type, description and associated tags.

The region name contains "Region_" as prefix and the OpenStack identity endpoint (host name, IP address) as suffix. The type is Region - OpenStack. You can add tags to the cloud by clicking the  icon.

Configuration data

Table

Displays configuration information for region resources such as name of the region, number of CPU cores, CPU total clock frequency, datastore size, available physical memory and number of hosts, along with their associated values.

Capacity Summary

Table

Displays utilization and other information such as vCPU parameters, CPU Overcommit Ratio, and saturation details for the region. For more information, see Viewing OpenStack capacity summary for a region.

CPU cores, vCPUs, Overcommit Ratio

Analysis chart

Displays the number of CPU cores, vCPUs, and CPU Overcommit Ratio in a region on an hourly basis.
Click Maximize to view an enlarged version of the chart. Click Restore down to return to the default view.

CPU Utilization

Analysis chart

Displays physical core CPU utilization (in MHz) and the total clock frequency of the cloud and its resources, on an hourly basis.

Click Maximize to view an enlarged version of the chart. Click Restore down to return to the default view.

Memory Utilization

Analysis chart

Displays consumed memory versus real memory utilization (in GB) of the cloud and its resources.

Click Maximize to view an enlarged version of the chart. Click Restore down to return to the default view.

Datastore Utilization

Analysis chart

Displays total datastore space utilized versus total datastores size of the cloud and its resources.

Click Maximize to view an enlarged version of the chart. Click Restore down to return to the default view.

Availability Zones

Link

Displays information for all availability zones for the selected region. For more information, see Availability Zones.

Host AggregatesLinkDisplays information for all host aggregates for the selected region. For more information, see Host Aggregates.
HypervisorsLinkDisplays information for all hypervisors in the selected region. For more information, see Hypervisors.

Viewing OpenStack capacity summary for a region

The Capacity Summary table contains CPU usage, Memory and Storage metrics. It also contains other metrics that are helpful in answering key capacity questions. Each row in the Capacity Summary table corresponds to a metric summary value for the selected region and shows the following information.

Right under the Capacity Summary table, there is a Thresholds link. If you click this link, you are redirected to the Thresholds page for the selected region. For more information, see Adding and viewing thresholds. To go back to the Regions tab, click the Back to OpenStack Region View button located at the top-right corner of the Thresholds page.

Using data filter and other controls in tables

You can export and filter the information that is displayed in tables to suit your need. For instance, you can show or hide columns, filter tables on particular domains, and so on.
