Installing Application Server components on additional computers

Before you begin

You must have reviewed the Planning topic, and reviewed the Installation scenarios.

You must have completed the procedure described in Performing the Application Server installation or Installing the Application Server components in silent mode.

Installation options

• Install Application Server components on additional computers using the cpit user: Complete the steps described in Preparing to install without a sysdba password; then continue with 769057401.

• Install Application Server components on additional computers using the root user: Complete the following steps. You can use an existing user or create a new user during installation.
  Steps marked with  are available only if you run the installation program using the root user.

To install Application Server components on additional computers

To install additional instances of Application Server components, repeat the following procedure for each target computer:

1. Unzip and extract the installation files: In the temporary directory that you created while Preparing to install without a sysdba password, unzip and extract the file.

   Extract command with example
   Extract: tar -xvf Capacity_Optimization_<ProdVer>_<OSver>_<Arch>.tar Example: tar -xvf TSCO_AppServer_ver10.7.00_Linux_x86_64.tar

   Note: Ensure that the directory permissions are preserved during extraction. To avoid any folder permission-related errors when you are installing from a read-only location.

2. Change the directory: After extracting the installation files, change the directory to: ./BCO/Disk1.

3. Set the DISPLAY environment: Your DISPLAY environment must be set correctly to enable the Installer UI to launch.

   Scenario	Command
   If the computer has a local graphical console: Set the DISPLAY environment variable to start the installer UI locally.	DISPLAY=<Local IP Address>:0.0 export DISPLAY
   If the computer does not have a local graphical console: Set the DISPLAY environment variable to export to an XServer on a different workstation. On the other workstation, give access grants to every incoming X window. That is, if the workstation is a Linux computer, or running X over a bash shell for Windows, type the command xhost +	DISPLAY=<WorkstationName>:0.0 export DISPLAY

4. Open the installation program: At the shell prompt, type the following command and press Enter: ./setup.sh

5. Welcome screen and EULA: In the product installation Welcome screen, click Next, agree to the the End User License Agreement (EULA), and click Next again.

6. Directory Selection: In the Directory Selection screen, type the installation directory (default: /opt/bmc/BCO) you want to install the product to, or click Browse to select a directory of your choice, then click Next.

   Avoid using the home directory of the user as the installation directory.

7.  Enter a username: In the BMC TrueSight Capacity Optimization User screen, provide a username (new or existing user) for running the product after the installation, and click Next. The installer will not proceed with the default entry, root, in the username box.

8. Select the installation step: In the Installation Step screen, select Install additional machines, and click Next.

9. Select the type of installation: In the Select Install Setup Type screen, select any one of the following options and click Next.
   • 769057401: Install all Application Server components, including ETL engine for troubleshooting purposes. 

   • 769057401: Select check-boxes for components you want to install, and clear for those you do not want to.
     
     Performing a typical setup
     

     Typical Setup: Application Server
     Screen	Description/Options
     Connect with existing BMC Capacity Optimization Server	Select any of the following options, enter the required information, and click Next.
     	Option	Description
     	Direct connection	The server you are installing connects to the existing application server over a direct connection. This machine can directly access the TrueSight Capacity Optimization database. Enter the following information: Web Server Address: The address of the web server. Custom Direct Connection: Enter the following information: Protocol: Select HTTP or HTTPS. Web Port: Default is 8000 for HTTP and 8443 for HTTPS.
     	Remote Connection	The server you are installing connects to the existing application server over a remote connection. This machine is located on a remote network with an unstable or slow connection and has only HTTP visibility to the TrueSight Capacity Optimization Datahub. Enter the following information: External Data API Server Name Custom Remote Connection: Enter the following information: Data API Protocol: Select http or https. Data API Port: Default is 8000. Control Port: Default is 8280 (port should be open for communications)
     Oracle Database Information	Enter information for connecting to the Oracle database and click Next. Oracle Client Home: Address of your Oracle Client's Home directory. Oracle Alias: Name of your Oracle Alias (TNS).

     To finish a Typical Install path, skip to 769057401.

     Performing a Custom setup

     Custom Setup
     Screen	Description/Options
     Select the Components	Select the components to install:
     	Component	Description
     	BMC TrueSight Capacity Optimization 10.7.00 Installation	Selects all components. If you select this option, the installation is similar to a Typical install.
     	Install Database Schema 10.7.00	Install and set up the database schema.
     	Install Application Server 10.7.00 Note: If you install the Web Server before installing Datahub, an error is displayed on the web console home page. The Application Server machine will stay in a suspended state until the Datahub is installed and registered in the database.	Install the following Application Server components: Install Web Server 10.7.00: Install the web server. Install Datahub 10.7.00: Install the TrueSight Capacity Optimization Datahub. Install Primary Scheduler 10.7.00: Installs the Primary Scheduler.
     	Install ETL Engine Server 10.7.00	Install the ETL Engine Server: Install ETL Engine 10.7.00: Install the ETL Engine.
     Connect with existing BMC Capacity Optimization Server	The task from this screen onwards (including this screen) is the same as that for performing a 769057401.

10. Installation Preview: In the Installation Preview screen, verify all the installation settings, and click Install.
    The installation can take up to 15 minutes to complete.

11. Installation Summary: The Installation Summary screen tells you whether or not your installation was completed successfully. To view the installation log, click View Log on this screen, else proceed with Step 12.
12. Click Done to finish the installation and exit the installer.
