The Cloud tab displays an overview about a cloud and its resources, such as pods, and also displays information such as CPU, memory, datastore utilization, cloud capacity summary, number of VMs, and detailed analysis charts for each subsystem. It also contains information about set thresholds for the currently selected Cloud.
After you select a cloud from the Clouds list, the Cloud tab is refreshed and displays a number of portlets such as analysis charts, contained elements, and utilization tables that display detailed resource and utilization information.
The following table describes each of these portlets in detail.
BMC CLM view: Cloud portlets
Portlet name | Portlet type | Description |
---|---|---|
Cloud information | Information | Displays information such as cloud name, type, description and associated tags. |
#VMs | Analysis chart | Displays the number of powered on\off VMs in a cloud for a particular period. |
CPU Utilization | Analysis chart | Displays physical core CPU utilization (in MHz) and the total clock frequency of the cloud and its resources. |
Memory Utilization | Analysis chart | Displays physical memory versus real memory utilization (in GB) of the cloud and its resources. |
Datastore space utilization | Analysis chart | Displays total datastore space utilization versus total datastores size of the cloud and its resources. |
Configuration data | Table | Displays configuration information for cloud resources such as datastore size, available physical memory and CPU frequency along with their associated values. |
Capacity Summary | Table | Displays utilization and other information such as vCPU parameters, theresholds, and saturation details for the cloud. For more information, see Viewing cloud capacity summary. |
Thresholds | Link | Placed right under the Capacity Summary table, clicking on the link takes you to the Thresholds page for the selected cloud. For more information, see Adding and managing thresholds. |
Pod list | Link | Displays information for all pods contained in the cloud. For more information, see Pod. |
Each row in the Capacity Summary table corresponds to a metric summary value for the selected cloud and shows the following information.
Cloud tab: Capacity Summary table
Metric | Description |
---|---|
CPU Utilization [%] | Percentage of total CPU utilized by the resource. |
Mem Utilization [%] | Percentage of total physical memory utilized by the resource. |
Datastore Space Util [%] | Percentage of total datastore capacity used by the resource. (maximum value). |
#vCPU ON | Total number of virtual CPU cores powered on. |
vCPU Daily Trend | Daily growth rate of active vCPUs, measured in Number of vCPUs/day. |
vCPU Residual Capacity | Number of additional vCPUs that can be added to the resource, based on the residual CPU capacity. |
Days to Saturation | The projected amount of time before the resource runs out of available capacity. |
Bottleneck Resource | The resource(s) predicted to cause performance bottlenecks. |
For more information on the Days to Saturation and other indicator parameters used for metric computations in this view, see Indicators.
Right under the Capacity Summary table, there is a Thresholds link. If you click this link, you are redirected to the Thresholds page for the selected cloud. For more information, see Adding and viewing thresholds. To go back to the Cloud tab, click Back to BMC CLM located towards the top-right corner of the Thresholds page.
You can export and filter the information that is displayed in tables to suit your need. For instance, you can show or hide columns, filter tables on particular domains, and so on.
