The Views section under Administration > VIEWS in the TrueSight Capacity Optimization console consists of a Views table that lists all views currently configured on your system and also enables you to add custom views to the view structure.

Before you begin


Views table

The Views table displays the following information:

ColumnDescription
Add viewClick Add view to add a new view to the view structure. For more information, see Adding a view.
NameName of the view.
DescriptionA brief description of the view.
PackageName of the package the view is part of. For example: Custom, Core.
Creation dateThe date on which the view was created.
Visible in

Displays where the view is available, in the Views tab in the TrueSight Capacity Optimization Console, or in TrueSight Presentation Server.

For example, Capacity Pools views are visible in Presentation Server.

Edit view

Click Edit to edit view properties. For more information, see Editing a view.

Delete viewClick Deleteto delete the view. For more information, see Deleting a view.
Export viewClick Export view to export the view. For more information, see Exporting a view.

To add a view

  1. Select Administration > VIEWS > Views and click Add view.
  2. In the Add new view page, select and enter values for the following properties:

    Add view propertiesDescription
    NameA name for the new view
    DescriptionA brief description of the view.
    Owner userSelect a user from the list who will own this view.
    Access mode

    Select any one:

    • Public view – everybody in the Access Group can see and edit: All users part of the BMC TrueSight Capacity Optimization access group can see and edit the view.
    • Public read only view – everybody in the Access Group can see, only owner can edit: All users part of the BMC TrueSight Capacity Optimization access group can see the view, but only the view owner can edit it.
    • Private view – only owner can see and edit: Only the view owner can see and edit the view.
    Edit mode

    Select any one:

    • Edit is enabled – users with rights can edit: Users with proper rights can edit this view.

    • Edit is disabled – no user can edit, independent of rights (LOCKED mode): No BMC TrueSight Capacity Optimization user besides the Administrator can edit this view. Selecting this property overrides and disables your selection for the Access mode property.
    RBAC mode

    Select any one:

    • Role-based Access Control Enabled (recommended): Grant access based on RBAC policies. For details, see Managing users and access control.

    • Role-based Access Control Disabled: Disable RBAC.
    Parent view groupsSelect a parent view group for the new view you are adding. Click+drag or Ctrl+click to make multiple selections.
    Visible to access groupsSelect the access groups the new group will be visible and have access to. Click+drag or Ctrl+click to make multiple selections.
  3. Click Save.

To modify a view

  1. Select Administration > VIEWS > Views.
  2. Click Edit corresponding to the view you want to edit.
  3. In the page displayed, edit the properties for the view. The properties are the same as those for Adding a new view.
  4. Click Save.

Note

You cannot modify views that are available in the TrueSight console, and not in TrueSight Capacity Optimization console.

To delete a view

  1. Navigate to Administration > VIEWS > Views.
  2. Click Deletecorresponding to the view you want to delete.

    Note

    Deleting a parent view deletes any views or pages under it.

To export a view file into a view

  1. Select Administration > VIEWS > Views.
  2. Click Export view  corresponding to the view you want to export.
  3. In the Export <view name> page, click Proceed.
  4. Click Click here to download the exported view to download the exported view to your computer as a .view file.
    You can use this .view file to upload the exported view to another instance of TrueSight Capacity Optimization.

To upload a view file

To upload a .view view file and add it to TrueSight Capacity Optimization:

  1. Select Administration > VIEWS > Views.
  2. Click Choose file under the Upload view file section to select the .view file you want to upload.

    Note

    You can upload only the file names that begin with a letter (upper/lowercase) or number, and have maximum 254 characters except '/', '\' or  ';'.
  3. Click Upload.
    The view is uploaded to TrueSight Capacity Optimization and becomes available after a few minutes.
