    You can locate the out-of-the-box and custom capacity views in the TrueSight console by expanding the Capacity Views folder in the navigation pane.

    Access to views in the TrueSight console is enabled through integrated system authentication with Atrium Single Sign-On. For more information, see Configuring user authentication.

    Before you begin

    To access the capacity views in the TrueSight console

    1. Log on to the TrueSight console.
    2. In the navigation pane, expand Capacity Views.


      The out-of-the-box views are listed under their view groups. All the custom views are displayed under the Custom Views folder.
    3. The views that you can access in the TrueSight console are listed in the Views page of the TrueSight Capacity Optimization console too. If you click the view name in the TrueSight Capacity Optimization console, the view automatically opens in the TrueSight console in a new tab of the browser. Your Capacity Optimization console session continues to be active.

    The following figure highlights the main fields and options that are available on a view page. The figure contains sample data and does not show all the options on a view page.

    Filtering options

    To focus on a specific set of your data, you can filter the data in the page based on the domain, applied tags, and time period.

    Some views might have additional filters. For example, the Cluster page in the vSphere Data Explorer view provides a cluster filter.

    Subview tabs

    The landing page of most of the views contains subviews that provide details about specific entities. For example, the vSphere Infrastructure view page shows data for clusters, resource pools, and other entities in separate subviews.

    Access a subview page by clicking the corresponding tab.
    Subsystem tabsSome of the subview pages of views further categorize the data based on subsystems or resources. For example, the Clusters subview page in the vSphere Infrastructure view shows data for capacity, CPU, memory, and storage under separate tabs.Access a subsystem page by clicking the corresponding tab.
    Table action menu

    This action menu is displayed only when the view page contains data in a tabular format.

     The action menu contains the following options:

    Show/Hide Columns: Some of the columns of the table are hidden by default. This option enables you to display or hide the optional columns of the table.

    Export to Excel: Enables you to save the table as a Microsoft Excel file. Only the columns that are displayed are exported to the file.

    Displays data in a tabular format, as different types of charts that display statistical information, or in a tree map format.

    Table format: You can change the order of your data by sorting the table and modify the number of records that can be displayed at a time in the table.  

    Chart format: You can download and save them in various formats, annotate the charts and print them.

    Tree map format: Hierarchical data is displayed in size and color-coded graphical representation (similar to a heatmap) and you can drill down into the entities for further details.

    Reading a tree map view

    Entity hyperlinkTo view details of an entity, you can click the Entity hyperlink and open the corresponding details page. For example, in vSphere Infrastructure > Clusters > Capacity page, click a cluster link in the Cluster column to view its details in the Cluster Details page.-

    Search icon: Enables you to find systems in a specific view or across all views by filtering out systems based on your search string.
    To search, click the icon and type the search string. By default, the current view is searched. The top five search results are displayed. To view all search results, click Show more results.

    In the Search Results page, you can perform a global search across all the views or select a specific view. You can then view the details of a system by clicking the system name (marked as 1 in following image) or access the corresponding view by clicking the view name (marked as 2 in following image).

    You can create temporary tags and assign them to all or some systems that are displayed in the Search Results page. For more information about creating temporary tags, see Working with tag filters.

    Settings icon: Enables you to perform the following tasks: 

    • Export to PDF: Enables you to export the details of the current page in the view to a PDF file
    • Export to Excel: Enables you to export the details of the current page in the view to an XLSX file. Only the data that is displayed on the current page is exported. The data depends on the selected view, subview and subsystem, and the applied filters.
    • Edit Settings: Enables you to modify the global thresholds for the data on the page, enforce a data refresh for the view, and perform functions such as review or modify view-specific thresholds from the TrueSight Capacity Optimization console.
      To perform any of these tasks, click the icon and select the task.
    • Add a page: Enables you to add a page to the view.
    • Edit a page: Enables you to edit the current page of the view.
    • Edit view: Enables you to open the view in edit mode.

    Help icon: Opens the context-sensitive help topic for the view in the online documentation portal.
