For more information, see EMC XtremIO Management Server ETL for TrueSight Capacity Optimization.

Enhanced Storage views

  • You can now view and manage the capacity of all the EMC XtremIO storage systems available in your environment through the Storage Systems view. To quickly identify unused volumes, new operators such as “equals”, “greater than”, and so on, are added to the Time Since Last Activity Column of the Storage Volumes page in the Storage Systems view. For more information, see Storage views.
  • The IQN (iSCSI Qualified Name) is handled in the Host views to better identify which host has access to which volume. For more information, see Storage Hosts view.

Enhanced performance

The LUNs discovery and collection of Storage Shares (NetApp Volumes) and Storage Volumes (NetApp LUNs) metrics are updated to improve the performance of NetApp Data ONTAP ETL for TrueSight Capacity Optimization.

Enhanced computation methods

To improve accuracy of the information, the computation methods are updated for the following integrations:

Enhanced reservation analytics

Extended OpenStack support

The integration with OpenStack is enhanced to support OpenStack host aggregates as a reservation target. For more information, see Reserving capacity for upcoming services.

Enhanced reservation APIs

The enhanced Reservation API now enables you to complete the following tasks:

  • Define and place a new reservation on a target in a single API call.
  • Retrieve and update the status of an already existing reservation and do the placement in the same API call.

Simplified administration and data integration

Automated purging of inactive entities

As an administrator, you can now automatically dismiss and purge entities (systems and business drivers) that are inactive beyond a specified threshold period. For more information, see Enabling automatic dismissal and purging of systems and business drivers

Enhanced Open ETL template creation

The enhanced Open ETL template creation wizard now enables you to create a SQL query for a catalog of entities and relationships (OBJREL) and supports object relationship ETLs and automatic scaling of imported metrics.

Along with support for different metric units, the Open ETL creation wizard maps the imported columns to the expected dataset column and indicates the mandatory and optional fields.

The SQL query that is used during the template creation is validated as part of the workflow to ensure that syntax errors are detected and corrected before you run the ETL. Also, the template has the following enhancements:

  • You can select a data source metric such as GB, MB/s from an available list.
  • You can apply a multiplier for metric unit conversion that allows a mix of percentage ranges (“0 to 1” or “0 to 100”).

For more information, see Managing an Open ETL template.

Ability to disable Series search

You can now disable search for Series and conduct the search on all systems, business drivers, domains and works. For a fresh install of TrueSight Capacity Optimization 10.7, the Series search is disabled by default. If you upgrade to version 10.7, then the Administrator must disable the Series search manually. For more information, see Configuring the default formats in the TrueSight Capacity Optimization console.

Additional metrics support in extractors

The following extractors now support additional metrics:

Lookup service

The lookup service is enhanced to reduce the time to load the catalog and to reduce the amount of memory that is required for storing the entire shared entity catalog. As a result, the number of calls over high latency network is reduced. For more information, see Lookup service.

Enhanced error messages

  • As an administrator, you can now easily decode and analyze an error by using the new time stamp attribute that is added to the error message. Errors with time stamp attribute are added to the log files too.
  • The error messages for the storage ETLs are improved to distinguish connection issues from server failures. A clear, explicit message will be displayed when a problem occurs during the discovery and collection process.

User Interface changes

  • The Environment label on the ETL tasks, Add ETL, Edit ETL pages is now called Deploy status. The new label indicates whether the ETL is run in a test environment or production environment. For more information, see Managing ETL and System tasks and Collecting data via ETL modules.
