The following topics provide information that you can use to prepare your environment for installing BMC Service Resolution 3.0:

Installing BMC TrueSight Operations Management/BMC ProactiveNet 9.6

Before you install BMC Service Resolution 3.0, you must first install BMC TrueSight Operations Management/BMC ProactiveNet 9.6, including the Base installation and the Extension installation. Perform the Extension installation on the computer on which BMC Remedy IT Service Management (ITSM) resides.

Verifying installation of supported products

Before you install BMC Service Resolution 3.0, ensure that you have installed licensed versions of all supported products. For more information, see Supported products and versions.

Note

If you have installed BMC Remedy ITSM Service Pack 2 Patch 001 (8.1.02.001), you need not install the BPPM Extensions because the extensions are available out of the box in this patch.

Backing up BMC Remedy AR System objects

As part of the BMC Service Resolution 3.0 patch installation, certain BMC Remedy AR System forms, active links, and filters are modified. You must back up all BMC Remedy AR System objects before you install BMC Service Resolution 3.0, in case you later need to roll back the installation. You can either set up your system to perform this backup automatically, or you can perform a manual backup.

To manually back up BMC Remedy AR System objects

Log on to BMC Remedy Developer Studio as an administrator, and back up the following modified objects:

  • HPD:CFG-Rules
  • HPD:Help Desk
  • HPD:Help Desk Classic
  • HPD:IncidentProcessControl
  • INT:BPPMDetails
  • INT:OutBoundStaging
  • INT:EventBuffering
