If you are using Microsoft Windows 2003 or 2008, you must install in Install mode instead of Execute mode or use the Windows Add or Remove Programs utility. This topic provides instructions for using Install mode.
To determine your current mode and temporarily activate Install mode, use the following tasks:
- Determine the current mode.
- Temporarily activate Install mode.
To determine the current mode
- Open a command prompt window and run the following command:
change user /query
- To determine a response, use the following table:

change user /install
- Install the BMC Server Automation component or components.
- Run the following command:
change user /execute
