This topic lists the requirements for deploying the BMC BladeLogic Rapid Deployment Stack for Servers (BladeLogic RDS). This topic contains the following sections:
Perform the following tasks before you start the BladeLogic RDS deployment process:
Download the md5sum file and the relevant BladeLogic RDS dump package for your database. This package installs a Linux guest operating system and the components listed in the BladeLogic RDS components and versions table.
Product name | File name | File type | File size | Platform |
---|---|---|---|---|
BladeLogic Rapid Deployment Stack <version> md5sum. For example, BladeLogic Rapid Deployment Stack <bsaVersion> md5sum. | md5sum.txt | txt | 129 B | all |
BladeLogic Rapid Deployment Stack <version> with Oracle Server DB Dump [x64] For example, BladeLogic Rapid Deployment Stack <bsaVersion> with Oracle Server DB Dump [x64]. | BladeLogicRDSORACLE<version>-LIN64.zip For example, BladeLogicRDSORACLE<bsaVersion>-LIN64.zip. | zip | 16 GB | Linux |
BladeLogic Rapid Deployment Stack <version> with SQL Server DB Dump [x64] For example, BladeLogic Rapid Deployment Stack <bsaVersion> with SQL Server DB Dump [x64]. | BladeLogicRDSSQL<version>-LIN64.zip For example, BladeLogicRDSSQL<bsaVersion>-LIN64.zip | zip | 13 GB | Linux |
Before you install and deploy the BladeLogic RDS, ensure that the machine on which you install the BladeLogic RDS complies with the following requirements:
Item | Purpose | Details |
---|---|---|
Disk space for the BladeLogic RDS components, including | Sufficient disk space to provision the VM. The BladeLogic RDS host is configured with a recommended default setting to manage 500 servers; therefore the vCenter should have at least 250 GB available for deployment. | BMC provides a pre-configured, thin-provisioned VM. For more information about storage recommendations for BMC Server Automation, see System requirements. |
VMware vCenter | A platform for creating virtual images and hosting the Used with BladeLogic Application Server. | VMware vCenter version 5.5 or later is required for installation. Note: You need to know the vCenter access details before you start the deployment. |
VMware ESX | Used with the vCenter as a hosting location for virtual machines | VMware ESX version 5.1 or later is required for this installation. Ensure that you are able to log on to a VMware vSphere Connect and access the ESX server. |
Oracle or SQL Server database | Used to store information | The following BladeLogic RDS deployment options are available:
For more information, see Database prerequisites and recommendations. |
Note the following database considerations prior to installing the BladeLogic RDS:
The following table lists the requirements and specifications for the database that works with BladeLogic RDS. For more information about the supported databases for BMC Server Automation, see Minimum software requirements.
