Through the BMC BladeLogic Decision Support for Server Automation application, you can generate web-based reports that summarize the data derived from the Virtual Infrastructure Discovery Job.

To generate reports for virtualization

Full instructions for generating and using reports are available in the BMC BladeLogic Decision Support for Server Automation User Guide.

  1. Access the Virtualization reports through the Virtualization folder on the Public Folders tab in the BMC BladeLogic Decision Support for Server Automation portal.
  2. Review the various Extended server properties that are used to populate the BMC BladeLogic Decision Support for Server Automation reports, shown in the following table.

    Report column name

    Description

    VIRTUAL_ENTITY_ID

    ID

    Shows information about the following characteristics of the frame:

    VIRTUAL_ENTITY_TYPE

    Type

    The type of Virtual Entity (for example, HMC, vCenter, ESX Host, global zone, frame, VM, zone, LPAR).

    Number Of Virtual Machines

    Shows the total of the VIRTUAL_ENTITY_TYPE property.

    VIRTUAL_ENTITY_ CONTAINER

    Hypervisor

    The property set instance of the container of the virtual entity (for example, ESX host, global zone).

    LOCATION

    Location

    Location of the server.

    CREATION_SERVICE_ REQUEST_ID

    Creation Service Request

    The service request identifier associated with the server creation.

    CREATION_CHANGE_ REQUEST_ID

    Change Service Request

    The change request identifier associated with the server creation.

    CREATION_TASK_ID

    Creation Task

    The task identifier associated with the server creation.

    RECONCILIATION_ID

    Reconciliation ID

    The reconciliation identifier from CMDB.

    OWNER

    Owner

    The owner of the server.

    Ownership Status

    Returns the ownership status as Has owner or No owner. This value is determined from the OWNER property.

    EXPIRY_DATE

    Expiry Date

    The date when the server is supposed to expire (or the date when the lease lapses).

    Expiry Status

    Returns the expiration status as Has Expiry or No Expiry. This value is determined from the EXPIRY property.

    Days To Expiry

    Shows the number of days remaining until expiration. This value is calculated from the difference between the expiration date and the current date.

    Months To Expiry

    Shows the number of months remaining until expiration. This value is calculated from the difference between the expiration date and the current date, in months.

    IS_VIRTUAL

    Is Virtual

    Tells whether the server is virtual machine (returns true or false).

    Virtualization Status

    Returns whether machine is virtual machine. This value is determined from the IS_VIRTUAL property.
