Page tree

You can browse a virtual system to review a variety of server objects (such as cluster, host and configuration information) related to the virtual system. Depending on the virtual environment, the Live node contains the following specialized child nodes.

Note

To live browse a virtual node inventory, you must log on as a user whose role has the following additional authorizations:

  • PropertyInstance.Read authorization
  • Connection PropertyInstance.Read

VMware vSphere

VMware vCenter Server

  • Inventory: Shows the dynamic tree under a vCenter (this is the equivalent of the VMware Infrastructure client's "Hosts & Clusters" view). This tree shows hierarchical organization and configuration information.
  • Clusters: Shows all the clusters in the vCenter and lists the resource pools and hosts under each cluster. This view includes configuration information about the clusters created in the vCenter server, server properties, and status.
  • Hosts: Shows all hosts in the vCenter and under each host shows virtual machines, resource pools present, and the host configuration of each ESX host.
  • Templates: Lists the available vCenter templates.
  • Virtual Machines: Lists all the virtual machines in the vCenter, in alphabetical order and the power status for each.
  • VC Configuration: Lists various configuration information related to the vCenter server, such as underlying operating system details, vCenter server name, and version.

IBM PowerVM

IBM Configuration

  • Configuration: Shows information about the frame's hardware, software, and connections.
  • LPAR List: Lists all the LPARs in the frame, with an indication of each LPAR's state. You can browse each LPAR to view information about its hardware, options, profiles, and settings.
  • Pools: Lists information about the frame's IO pools and shared processor pools.
  • VIO Servers: Lists all the VIO servers in the frame, with an indication of each VIO server's state. You can browse each VIO server to view information about its adapter mapping, hardware, options, profiles, and settings.

Solaris Zones

Global Zone

  • Non-global Zones: Lists all the zones in the global zone, with an indication of each zone's state. You can browse each zone to view information about its hardware, options, storage, and general settings.
  • Projects: Lists each project and its attributes.
  • Resource Pools: Lists the processor sets and resource pools available to this global zone.

Microsoft Hyper-V

Microsoft VMM

  • Clusters: Shows all the clusters in the Microsoft System Center Virtual Machine Manager (VMM).
  • Hosts: Shows all the hosts configured under the VMM, and their Properties.
  • Virtual Machines: Lists all the virtual machines in the VMM, in alphabetical order, and the status of each.

Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization (KVM)

RHEL KVM

  • Networks: Lists each network connected to the host server.
  • Domains: Lists all the domains on the host, with an indication of each domains state. You can browse each domain to view information about its hardware, options, storage, and general settings.
  • Storage Pools: Lists all of the storage pools available to this host.

Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization (RHEV)

RHEV Manager

  • Clusters: Shows all the clusters in the RHEV Manager. This includes configuration information about the clusters created in the RHEV Manager. The Clusters node also includes:
    • Networks: Lists each network connected to the host server.
    • Storages: Lists all of the storage domains available to this host.
  • Data Centers: Shows the data centers to which the RHEV Manager belongs.
  • Hosts: Shows all the hosts configured under the RHEV Manager, and their Properties.
  • Templates: Lists the available RHEV templates.
  • Virtual Machines: Lists all the virtual machines in the RHEV Manager, in alphabetical order, and the status of each.
  • RHEV-M Configuration: Shows information about the RHEV Manager version.

Citrix XenServer

Citrix XenServer

  • For hosts: Shows the properties of the host server. For each host, you can view general information about the host, as well as information about the NICs, networks, and storage associated with the host servers.
  • For resource pools: Shows the properties of the available pools. For each pool, you can view general information about the pool, as well as information about the networks, storage, HA (High Availability) and WLB (Workload Balancing). Also shows configuration of virtual machines, XenServer templates, custom templates and storage repositories.
