This topic describes issues that you might encounter during the installation or uninstallation of BMC Release Process Management.

This topic consists of the following sections:

Installing to a path with spaces

When you install the BMC Release Process Management application on a Solaris platform with a built-in PostgreSQL database, the installation does not succeed if the path you use contains spaces.

Workaround: Set up a path without spaces or install the application to a path with spaces, but use a remote database.

Installing without administrator or root privileges

If you perform an installation without administrator or root privileges, you cannot install BMC Release Process Management together with a local PostgreSQL database.

Uninstalling from a path with spaces

Uninstalling the BMC Release Process Management application does not succeed if you originally installed the application to a path with spaces.

For example, if the application is installed to the path /opt/bmc/ RLM/, the uninstaller starts, but a message appears indicating that there are no features to uninstall. If you enter the uninstall.sh command in a terminal, a message appears indicating that there is no JAR file to execute.

Workaround:

  1. Stop all services in the /opt/bmc/ RLM/bin folder or enter the ./stop.sh command.
  2. Remove spaces from the BMC Release Process Management location path (for example, from \ RLM to \RLM).
  3. Uninstall the application.
