Automation scripts for BMC Remedy IT Service Management Suite

This topic lists default scripts that you can import to perform various functions related to Release Management, Change Management, Task Management, and Release Activity in BMC Remedy Action Request System (BMC Remedy AR System) by using the BMC Release Process Management interface.

Scripts can be of the following types:

  • Automation: This type of script helps you perform actual functions in BMC Remedy AR System by using the BMC Release Process Management user interface. For example, create or update change requests, create or update release activity, and so on.
  • Resource automation: This type of script helps in retrieving necessary data from BMC Remedy AR System to enable operation of automation scripts. These scripts are referenced by the automation scripts for certain values.

Scripts can be further categorized as:

  • Static: These scripts retrieve a default set of static data for certain fields available on the Change Management or Release Management forms of BMC Remedy AR System. If you customize the fields or update the values available for those fields by using BMC Remedy Developer Studio, this data is not captured by the resource automation script.
  • Dynamic: These scripts retrieve dynamic data for certain fields available on the Change Management or Release Management consoles of BMC Remedy AR System. This means that even If you customize the fields or update values displayed for those fields by using BMC Remedy Developer Studio, this data is captured dynamically by the resource automation script.

Notes

  • These automation scripts are Ruby scripts that directly communicate with BMC Remedy AR System to execute various operations.
  • Import all the resource automation scripts before importing the automation scripts. Unless the resource automation scripts are already imported, automation scripts that depend on them cannot work.
