The benchmark data of an IT service cost shows how your IT service cost compares to the industry standard. This helps IT organizations identify opportunities for cost efficiency improvements. To simplify assessment and comparison of the IT service cost data, BMC IT Business Management Suite provides the benchmarking functionality as part of the BMC Service Cost Management application. You can browse the benchmark data to understand the metrics available for comparison. You can then add the benchmark data to compare with your service cost analysis.
Note
Benchmark data is not included in the product DVD or download files. You can load the benchmark data using staging tables.
To benchmark service cost
- Define your IT service.
- Define the cost and consumption of the service.
- Analyze chargeback for the service to calculate the unit cost of the service for a given fiscal period.
