The IMS Fast Path data entry databases (DEDBs) are designed for fast retrieval of data in a high volume, high availability environment. The primary access paths for these databases are structured to ensure high performance for your most critical applications. When new applications are created and require access to the database different from your primary transactions, they can experience significant numbers of I/Os and long response times.

The BMC Lightning X for IMS (Lightning X) product solves these problems by providing alternate access paths with secondary indexes for your DEDBs. Lightning X includes all of the components and utilities that you need to define, build, use, and maintain DEDB secondary indexes.
