8.6.00 enhancements

This topic contains information about enhancements in version 8.6.00 of the BMC Decision Support for Server Automation product.

Added SCAP compliance reporting

With this release, BMC Decision Support for Server Automation offers an additional type of reports that are based on compliance analysis of the Security Content Automation Protocol (SCAP) benchmark content. The information in the SCAP Compliance reports is derived from the SCAP Compliance Job runs in BMC Server Automation servers.

BMC Decision Support for Server Automation provides various built-in SCAP Compliance reports. Also, you can create your own ad-hoc reports.

New built-in SCAP Compliance reports

The following new SCAP Compliance reports are available with this release of the product. For more information about these reports, see Built-in Compliance reports

Report nameDescription
SCAP Summary By BenchmarkSummarizes the SCAP compliance results for servers for a benchmark over a selected time interval.
SCAP Summary By ServerSummarizes the SCAP compliance results for benchmarks for a server over a selected time interval.
Detailed SCAP ReportProvides detailed information for the SCAP compliance rules for a benchmark on the server over a selected time interval.

Changes in the BMC BladeLogic data model

To enable SCAP Compliance reporting, the BMC BladeLogic data model now includes SCAP folder containing query items. These query items enable you to create ad-hoc SCAP Compliance reports. The following table lists the query subjects and query items included in the SCAP folder. For details of these query items and the complete data model sheet, click the "8.6 BMC BladeLogic data model" link at Data model.

Note

  • Query items marked with * are based on SCAP version 1.2 components. In an SCAP Compliance report for SCAP version 1.0, these items are displayed as 'Not Applicable'.
  • If only the SCAP Compliance Jobs (and not the Compliance Jobs) have been run in BMC Server Automation, the query items from the query subjects (except Compliance Server) do not display data in the ad hoc report. The report displays data only if you use a query item from the SCAP folder.

A new query item, IAVA ID has been added to the Windows Bulletin query subject in the Patch domain. This attribute indicates the Information Assurance Vulnerability Alert ID of a Windows bulletin. Access this query item at Patch > Patch Overview > Patch Details > Windows Bulletin.

To enable you to create reports based on the ACL policies and new object types, the following query subjects and query items have been included in various domain folders in the BMC BladeLogic data model. To see the details of these query items and the complete BladeLogic data model sheet, click the "8.5 BMC BladeLogic data model" link at Data model.

In versions earlier than 8.3, the OS Vendor and Subnet Mask information is present in multiple query subjects. From this release, this information is available only in the OS Vendor and Subnet Mask query items, which are present in the Inventory\Server query subject.

Removed properties from the Inventory Server Property query subject

The following properties are no longer available in the Inventory Server Property query subject:

  • REPEATER_STAGING_DIR
  • STAGING_DIR

See the following documents for the complete 8.2 BladeLogic data model and for the changes done in the data model in version 8.2. A sample CSV file obtained from report analysis on BMC BladeLogic Decision Support for Server Automation version 8.1 is also available.
